Barnstable County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Investigators John Szucs and Timothy Wallace were called to the scene and provided crime scene analysis and evidence collection. Shoplifter nabbed in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH
- Minutes before the motel robbery (above) a woman was arrested for shoplifting. Police report about 9:40 PM they responded to the Pizazz gift store on Long Pond Drive in South Yarmouth regarding an alleged shoplifter.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Kevin P. McIsaac arrived at the store and located the suspect sitting in her blue Ford Expedition in the rear parking lot.  Store employees advised Patrol Officer McIsaac that they had observed the suspect steal a dress and a stuffed animal.  The suspect 18-year old Amy D. An inventory of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of brand new items with store tags still on them.  Many of the items were listed as coming from two other gift stores in West Yarmouth-Wings and Mrs. Mitchell's. Several hundred dollars worth of items were confiscated and the investigation is ongoing.

Driver arrested for 3rd OUI after crash in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH
- As Yarmouth Police were dealing with the shoplifting and robbery calls (above) they also had to respond to a motor vehicle crash where the driver was accused of being drunk. Police say just after 10 PM both the Yarmouth Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash into the woods at the intersection of Weir Road and Starbuck Lane in Yarmouthport.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers David S. Dickey and Cheryl Nugent Gomsey responded to the scene and located the operator standing outside his crashed vehicle refusing any medical treatment.

While speaking with the operator regarding the crash-Patrol Officer Dickey was told that the crash occurred because his slippers got caught between the gas and brake pedal causing the operator to lose control.  During the on-scene interview-Patrol Officer Dickey reportedly detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on the operator's breath and signs of intoxication.  Patrol Officer Dickey administered a series of standardized field sobriety tests and subsequently placed the operator 42-year old John E. Giannelli of Harwich under arrest for drunken driving and failing to stay in marked lanes.

Giannelli was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court today. Mugshot furnished by YPD.
