Quit ruining rich people's views; See a shark, don't worry

You may see sharks, but experts say don't worry

PORTSMOUTH — Marine experts are trying to allay fear people may have about sharks traveling closer to shore, saying it is merely part of their natural quest for food.  "Most of the time, you're not seeing really any of the predatory sharks close to shore because there's enough food for them in the outside areas and they're migrating along following the food," said John Nelson, chief of Marine Fisheries for New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Authorities in Maine on Saturday closed a portion of Wells Beach briefly after lifeguards spotted a foot-long sand shark. The shark feeds on small fish, krill and invertebrates and does not pose a threat to humans.  Nelson said sharks generally feed on tuna, mackerel, bluefish and herring...  Schulte added that she recently saw a thresher shark — more commonly seen in the Cape Cod area.  However, it is not common sharks to get too close to the coast...  Foster's Daily.

"Hey, quit ruining the rich people's water views, all right?"

dsjason_megaphone_448So yelled Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones when he stopped a kid from flying a kite on a Cape beach. Jones' investigation into the protest against Cape Wind, the project to build wind turbines in Nantucket Sound, revealed exactly why so many powerful people want to stop the project.

The powerful people could have talked to him, but he and author Wendy Williams  discovered that not just anyone can get close to the Kennedy Compound, or any of the other Important People who get to enjoy the glorious views of the sound.

We could rehash the whole thing, but we'll just say that Jones & Co. made Senator Ted Kennedy look like a real hose. Check it out for yourself here..  Bostonist.
