Kerry to join Centennial Celebration of the laying of the cornerstone of the Pilgrim Monument

BOSTON - Senator John Kerry will participate in the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the laying of the cornerstone of the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown on Monday, August 20 at 1pm.

President Theodore Roosevelt laid the cornerstone of the monument in the summer of 1907.

The monument commemorates the Mayflower Pilgrims' first landing in the New World in Provincetown, in November 1620. Here the Pilgrims spent 5 weeks exploring the tip of Cape Cod, before they sailed on to Plymouth. It was here that they drew up and signed the Mayflower Compact, which established the rule of law for the new land.

Visit the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum here.
