Car crashes into Osterville Cumby's; Yarmouth stabbing; Suspicious fires alarm P'town; P'town water rescue

At 3:45 p.m. today the Barnstable Police and COMM Fire got a call that a car had crashed into a building and rolled backwards at the Cumberland Farms on West Bay Road in Osterville.

Upon arrival, rescue personnel examined the driver who refused transport and the PD and FD asked for a building inspector to come to the scene because of wall and window damage.

A County Criminal Idenification Officer (CIO) was called to take photos of the scene. An eyewitness across the street said that a few minutes prior to the accident some people had just left the store and they would have been seriously hurt if they had been in the way.  Photos by Frank Paparo.

Double stabbing in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH -Yarmouth Police are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed two men on Angus Avenue in Yarmouth early Sunday morning. Both victims were treated at Cape Cod Hospital and released. The suspect is identified as 35-year-old John Windland, aka John Davis. He is described as 6 feet tall and 230 pounds with blue eyes and a goatee. The motive in the attack is unclear. We'll bring you further details as we get them from Yarmouth Police.

Officials warn of suspicious fires in Ptown
PROVINCETOWN - Provincetown firefighters were called to the Anchor Inn at 175 Commercial Street about 4:20 p.m. Sunday after a fire broke out in one of the rooms. The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. Further details were not immediately available. It was not immediately clear if this fire was connected to a series of fires over the last couple of weeks that have officials very concerned. Two dumpsters were set ablaze and then a fire was started in a house under construction. With wooden buildings in close proximately the potential for disaster is always real. Woman rescued off P'town breakwater
PROVINCETOWN - Rescue crews from Provincetown and Truro were called to the West End Breakwater in Provincetown Sunday afternoon after reports  of people in the water. A woman was rescued and evaluated for possible hypothermia. Its not clear how she wound up in the water however it was near high tide and the popular walking route to Long Point has low points that can be trecherous to pass at high water.
