Fire destroys house on Martha's Vineyard
EDGARTOWN - A fire gutted a house in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard Thanksgiving afternoon. Flames were through the roof when firefighters arrived on Edgartown Bay Road. Holiday "tree" vandalized in Provincetown
PROVINCETOWN - For many years now the start of the holiday season in Provincetown has been marked by the lighting of the Pilgrim Monument. For the past four years another tradition has been taking hold. Local artist Julian Popko has sculptured a Christmas tree out of unused lobster traps in the middle of Lopes Square. This year someone has been removing light bulbs from the display and, as anyone who has worked with such lights knows, if you remove one bulb the whole string goes out. When CWN took this photo Thanksgiving evening all the lights were dark. Reports say that Popko is in Springfield and can't get back to make repairs until next week. A sign attached to the "tree" announces a "Grinch" has been stealing bulbs and ask anyone with information to contact Popko at (413) 543-1956. If you know anything or see suspicious activity you can also contact Provincetown Police at (508) 487-1212. The Lopes Square scene can be seen real-time at this link by selecting the Lopes Square Cam.
