More Hardcore Republican Playguys

Many status quo quasi-Republicans have chided me for being outspoken about the Massachusetts Republican Party and the Republican National Committee. They say that because of my decision to lambaste the Republican Party that I have doomed my chances of ever running for office again. Isn't that great? This is their way of attempting to usurp freedom of speech and expression. But I am convinced that coercion and scare tactics no longer work to the advantage of Republicans. Neither does reckless sexual behavior. And as long as Republican officials continue to whore themselves around, I not only will continue to distance myself, but will speak my mind without fear of retribution.

Most of you by now are pretty well aware of the endless saga of Republican gay sex stings leading up to the Larry Craig exposure, but you probably are unaware of the 10 or 15 other busts that have occurred since then. With so many Republican officials being indicted for gay rape, prostitution, public sex and everything else it's almost become normal. So normal that the myriad of Republican gay sex busts that have occurred since the Craig incident have been too high in number to create a single media buzz.

In the relatively short amount of time since the Craig scandal the leader of the National Federation of Young Republicans was busted for raping  teenage males while they were sleeping at a convention, a Wisconsin Republican leader was charged with enticing and touching a male delinquent youth who had run away from lock up, a Republican legislative leader from Florida was arrested for offering 20 dollars for sex in a highway bathroom, a Louisiana GOP Senate candidate was arrested for attempting to hire rent boys (male prostitutes), a Republican lawmaker from Washington was busted for engaging in unprotected sex with make prostitutes, a the head of a state GOP was arrested for molesting underage boys.........gosh, I can't even list them all. This doesn't even include the 15 or 20 other stings that occurred in the years preceding the Craig and Foley scandal.

Interestingly enough the media has downplayed most of these incidents, with the exception of the Larry Craig and Mark Foley sexcapade. Most of the information obtained for citing these examples actually came from international newspapers. That should be of no surprise. The American media is nearly saturated with super-liberal "there is no right and wrong" sympathizers of sexual deviancy. But the conservative media in other countries isn't, and they have made it known to the world that the American government, more specifically the Republican Party, is full of sexually compulsive lying hypocrites.

So for those rank-in-file Republicans who threaten me and others for speaking from our heart about the need for a serious overhaul in the Republican Party, keep kissing the ass of the Party of perverts like Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Glenn Murphy, Bob Allen, Jim West, Ed Schrock and she-males like LesbiAnn Coulter. See where it gets you! This new Republican Party has morphed into one big gay sex orgy from state capitols to Capitol Hill. Telling people that it's not appropriate to speak publicly about such unacceptable and vile behavior is like telling someone who witnesses rape to keep silent and be loyal to the rapist perpetrator. What good does that do? Too many Republican Party thugs have perpetrated countless sexual crimes against public moral, and unless we do something to change what is going on (sex crimes by Republican officials continue to be exposed roughly every 2-3 weeks) conservative will continue to leave the party, and yes, vote for Democrats.

When American conservatism was totally down for the count and at its lowest ebb(oops that's 2 different metaphors)in '77, the cultural war was declared lost, Victorian morality was finally ditched and it all became about a new libertarianism that aimed to ditch all laws that gave poor folks any protection whatever from rich folks... and this starts with birthright. If you ditch all birthright then child slavery eventually becomes acceptable. So conservatism began to attract pedophiles to a whole new degree.

UMassJSP, you think I am crazy for saying that the Republican Party needs to do something about it's leaders molesting children, hiring prostitute, being caught in highway rest stops, etc. Call me crazy if you want. But that is insulting most Republicans in this country, becuase they, like me, are extremely disappointed with what is going. That's why Republicans are having so much trouble. You aren't helping the Republican party by condoning, defending or trying to hide whats going on.

The one thing missing from this diatribe is some whisper of nexus between personal sexual conduct and party affiliation. The interesting thing about this piece is the repetitive use of the word "sting." Are you so sure that perverted conduct is the exclusive franchise of the Republican Party, or are you just that insistent on tarring an entire party with the perversions of a dozen or so notorious cases?

So what is your theory? Membership in the Party causes people to misbehave? The Party attracts perverts like the Catholic Church?

What "something" do you suggest be done? Ask prospective party leaders if they're deviants? Surveil them?

Do you see anyone condoning, defending or trying to hide what Larry Craig has done (other than Orrin Hatch defending his right to due process - I hope you wouldn't deny him that)?

I don't think people who counsel you against this sort of smearing are trying to "usurp" (wrong word) your freedom of speech. They are suggesting to you that your speech has consequences. Just like behavior does.

Michael Savage said some interestng things last night.
First, he said, "I'll be around long after Rudy Guiliani has gone back to the Waldorf Astoria in a wedding dress."

He also said that this country is very fast approaching Nazi Fascism...and he's no flaming liberal, quite the opposite.
Kids turning in their parents, and the State taking children from their homes.

But then he said that it was well-known that the Nazi brown-shirts were all gay...
Real interesting given what's going on with the sexual proclivities of the Republican Party.
Something to keep in mind anyway.

Self deception and inconsistency in the party’s “beliefs” attract people like this: the disconnect between the desire for a strong military and world dominance with lower (or no) taxes; America as the land of Sodom and America as the shining city on the hill; over-idolization of the military with personal military avoidance and neglect of veterans; pro traditional families with multiple marriages, etc.
I wish we could return to central Repub values like balancing the budget and smaller government and leave all these social issues to work themselves out.

Bitter -- Michael Savage is, in my opinion, a thoroughly contemptible and unredeeming character. I regard nothing that he says as credible.

James -- world dominance? The problem with social issues "sorting themselves out" is that they don't. Peoples' personal behaviors within a society have an incremental effects upon the culture, to the point where they influence what is the "community standard." The only way to have social issues "sort themselves out" is for all three branches of government to do nothing that reflects or articulates what the "community standard" is. That would be a rather egregious abdication of its responsibility.

LOL, YES SIR!!

(I represented police officers for 20 years -- I KNOW they know sarcasm, but irony is a tough one for some of them. I think it's the "linear thinking" that gets them.)

James [Member] writes:
wavemaker, "sort themselves out" would include the government at some point, like the abolition of slavery and the expanding of women's rights, neither of which would have passed a "community standards" test earlier.

Self-loathing homosexual men flock to the Republican party for the same reason they flock to the priesthood: It provides a cloak which they think shields them from scrutiny.

They feel guilty, although they shouldn't, about their sexuality, so they jump the homophobic bandwagon, because no one would ever suspect Mr. Family Values to be gay. Or so they think.

Since you generally can't be a Democratic pol and be homophobic and spout religion, you have to be a Republican pol in order to provide the cover which you think will hide your true colors.

So the Republicans, by tolerating homophobia and being the self-appointed arbiters of morality, have only themselves to blame for all the sex scandals in their own party.

James [Member] writes:
wavemaker, I'm not convinced there ever was a time of great character and values. Education, for a few, I agree, was probably better at some point in the past (and certainly valued more.)
I have no idea what you mean by moral degeneracy.
01/11/08 @ 7:51 pm
wavemaker [Member] writes:
Well let's see. Moral degeneracy.

A tripling of the percentage of high school students who say they cheat and there's nothing wrong with it.

A teenage culture where kids think nothing of hooking up for the mere pleasure of a casual orgasm, no strings attached, and pass each other in the hallway at school the next day like it didn't happen.

Just two off the top of the head. You get the picture.

Is this how it happens:

"I'm gay and I hate myself. I think I should run for office as a Republican so I can hide my self-loathing gayness."

Or is it:

Republican party officials conspiring on party-building strategy:

"We need to go out and find as many self-loathing gays as we can, put them to work, and then praise them daily until they're ready to run for office."

Is it only self-loathing gays who go Republican -- and all the other self-loving gays go Dem?

Sorry, I am being sarcastic -- but honestly, your post provokes it.

wavemaker, moral degeneracy seems a little strong for the examples you give and I still do not understand why you think it is the responsibility of the government to set the standards in these types of situations. or how they even could.
Not that I don't think our elected officials should have high ethical standards. Any high school student looking at the actions of our government especially in the last 35 years would see that cheating works and provides great rewards.
As for those poor closeted Repubs, sometimes people hate in others the things that they hate most in themselves. They feel that if they could wipe it out "out there" it would diminish their own urges. Works for the religious too.
01/12/08 @ 9:36 am
wavemaker [Member] writes:
James:

"Degenerate"-. to fall below a normal or desirable level in physical, mental, or moral qualities; deteriorate: The morale of the soldiers degenerated, and they were unable to fight.
2. to diminish in quality, esp. from a former state of coherence, balance, integrity, etc.: The debate degenerated into an exchange of insults.

The failure of students (or, say, business leaders) to find any "wrong" in cheating demonstrations a degeneration of morals. Same with treating sex like mere physical activity or amusement.

Just to play the agent provocateur, the link I provided above indicates that Republican sex scandals involve more heterosexual degeneracy than homosexual. Does one apply the "self-hating" label equally?
01/12/08 @ 9:50 am
James [Member] writes:
wavemaker, to claim diminishment means that there was a past when things were different. I don't think there was.
As far as self-hating, many people who are "pro-family" to use that term loosely are the ones who have extra marital affairs or are on wife number 3. Not to mention the ones who see gay families as a treat to "marriage." So I might argue the same label applies.
You need see a pol, caught with a prostitute, for instance, turn around and argue that prostitution should be legalized. Instead they beg forgiveness and return to their "family" or Jesus.

Well James, I sense that you are around the same age as I -- 50's -- and if you can tell me that our mores on the subject fo sex and cheating were the same in the mid-60's and they are now, I'd have to say I disagree emphatically.

As far as your latter observations, whille there are surely some of those people around, I think your engaging in hyperbole and gross over-generalizations.
01/12/08 @ 2:40 pm
James [Member] writes:
wavemaker, of course we're having a general discussion, so your final remarks are, in this circumstance, silly.
I'm sorry but sex wasn't invented in the 60's.
