Crash at notorious intersection closes Route 28
The driver of a rolled over pickup at Rt. 28 and Lumbert Mill Rd. is readied for transport to CCH.
CENTERVILLE - A serious crash at a notorious intersection closed Route 28 for a little over an hour Wednesday evening. A SUV driven by Brian Way of Mashpee collided with a pickup truck driven by Andrew Little of Cotuit at Route 28 and Lumbert Mill Road about 7 p.m. The impact caused the pickup to roll on its roof. Both drivers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital. Little reportedly suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police who cited Way for operating to endanger and failing to stop at a stop sign. Way reportedly told police he hydroplaned on the wet roads. The town of Barnstable has been negotiating with the state for several years to try to get a signal light at the dangerous intersection. Story and photos by Frank Paparo.
