New overnight: 12-year-old bicyclist allegedly attacked in Brewster
BREWSTER
- A 12-year-old boy on his bike was allegedly attacked by a motorist near Drummer Boy Park. The victim's mother told the Cape Cod Times her son was riding with a friend Thursday evening when someone in a dark green sedan began throwing small rocks at the pair. The mother says the vehicle turned into a dead-end. When it turned around a passenger allegedly spit at the victim who then spit back. That is when the suspect is alleged to have punched the boy with two fists in the back of the head. The boy was reportedly treated at Cape Cod Hospital. The mother says police later tracked down the vehicle in Dennis and charged a suspect. We're checking with police and will bring you further details as we get them.

Truck fire threatens Falmouth house

Despite this scene firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to a home in Falmouth.
FALMOUTH - On Thursday evening at 6:40 p.m. Falmouth Fire & Rescue was called to a truck fire in the driveway in front of 143 Fresh Pond Road in East Falmouth. Upon arrival, a small pickup truck was discovered fully-involved, with gas leaking from its tank and burning outside the vehicle. The fire took some time to bring under control using both water and foam. Although the fuel continued to leak and burn for almost 30 minutes, there was no explosion and no injuries. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to the home. As the fire was controlled it appeared the truck was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire will be investigated but it seemed likely the leaking fuel would have been the cause. Story and photos by Eric Tinglof.

Domestic dispute ends in stabbing on Nantucket
NANTUCKET
- An argument between an ex-girlfriend and present girlfriend of a Nantucket man ended in the ex being stabbed in the arm. 28-year-old Kerian Wilson was arrested by Island police and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The victim was treated at Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

Massage therapist charged with alleged sexual assault in Dennis
DENNIS -At approximately 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Dennis Police arrested 45-year-old David M. Hartman, of 29 Crestview Drive in Sandwich with two counts of Indecent Assault & Battery on a Person over 14 years of age.

Mr. Hartman is a massage therapist and operates Lighthouse Massage which is located at 900 Route 134, Suite 2-21A, in East Dennis.

It is alleged that Mr. Hartman sexually assaulted a 39-year-old female patient in early May of this year during a therapeutic massage at his place of business.

It is believed that Mr. Hartman has operated this business since 2003 at this same location.  His license to practice massage therapy, issued by the Town of Dennis, was revoked (due to a change in the law assigning the issuance of these licenses to a state agency) in early 2008. Police are trying to determine if he holds a current license to practice in Massachusetts.

Mr. Hartman was arrested at his office this afternoon without incident. He will be arraigned in Orleans District Court on Friday morning, June 13, 2008.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information concerning Mr. Hartman or the Lighthouse Massage business is urged to call either Detective Thomas Downs or Ptlmn. Kathleen Mei at the Dennis Police Department 508-394-1315.

Not a great week for Dennis. First, a brutal rapist who lives on Route 6A is arrested. Then, an unlicensed massage therapist on Route 134 is arrested for sexual assault. Then, perhaps most bizarrely, a Dennis man is charged with throwing rocks at a 12-year-old boy.

re: crash in hyannis on 6/12/08 the story states that the car hit a box truck and was wedged underneath... never happened! I was the vehicle that was hit by the smaller car. I drive a jeep wrangler. I was stopped at the light, the other car hit me from behind. she was not extricated by fire dept and there was no box truck involved. the pic of the truck on the site was a random truck driving by! must of been a slow new day for mr. paparo
