New overnight: Wellfleet man arrested after high speed chase
HARWICH - A Wellfleet man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase on Route 6 eastbound. Police say 23-year-old Dustin Curley was driving a red Chevy Camaro when he allegedly began accelerating after an officer attempted to pull him over near the Dennis-Harwich line. A high speed chase ensued and according to police, Curley's vehicle reached speeds of up to 140 MPH. After getting off at Exit 9 in Dennis, Curley eventually pulled over on Depot Street in Harwich and was taken into custody. He was charged with driving to endanger, failing to stop for police, marked lanes violation and speeding. He was due to be arraigned in Orleans District Court Wednesday morning.
Top story: Four injured, two critically, in Eastham two-car head-on crash
Daytripper traffic gridlocked by crash
Two vehicles collided head-on on Rt. 6 in Eastham injuring 4 people, 2 seriously.
EASTHAM - (Video included) Four people were injured, two critically Tuesday afternoon in a Route 6 crash shortly before 3 p.m. The crash involved two vehicles, a white Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by 87-year old Robert Caddell of Orleans and a black Nissan 300ZX driven by 19-year old Jamie Rees of Orleans. Caddell was ejected upon impact. Rees had to be freed using the Jaws of Life. Both were rushed to Cape Cod Hospital after Medflight was not available. Rees was later transfered to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Caddell later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital both in critical condition. Caddell's wife 80-year old Grace Caddell was admited to Cape Cod Hospital. A second passenger in the van, an 81-year old South Orleans woman, was treated and released.
The crash occurred by Governor Prence Road on Route 6 near the Eastham Tourist Information Booth. Eastham Police re-routed traffic to Bridge Road. Traffic was still tied up at 4:45 p.m for several miles. A regional crash reconstruction team is trying to determine the cause of the crash.

Bicyclist struck by car in South Dennis
A young Russian woman luckily escaped with only minor injuries after her bike was struck by a car.
SOUTH DENNIS - A young Russian woman was lucky to have escaped with only bumps and bruises when her bicycle was struck by a car at the intersection of Baxter Street and Upper County Road in South Dennis around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday. The intersection where the collision occurred is unlit and the driver of the Toyota Camry making a left on Upper County from Baxter apparently did not see the bicycle and rider headed east toward Dennisport. Dennis rescue responded to the scene but the young woman (seen at right talking with police) refused treatment and transport to the hospital. Dennis police gave her a ride home.

Firefighters douse basement fire in Falmouth
FALMOUTH - Falmouth firefighters were able to quickly douse a fire in the basement of a Rosemary Lane home shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday. Smoke was reportedly pouring out of the front door when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Car vs. fence and tree in South Dennis
A car hit a fence and tree in Dennis leaving it dangling at a sharp angle
SOUTH DENNIS - A young woman traveling alone lost control of her Dodge Stratus as she was headed west on Upper County Road in South Dennis near Aunt Debby's Road. The vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a stockade fence, a utility pole guy wire - narrowly missing the pole itself -- and a large pine tree. Several sections of the fence were demolished and shattered boards were scattered across the yard of a nearby house. The absence of skid marks on the road or grass shoulder indicated that the driver probably did not apply the brakes at anytime before the impact. The driver was up and walking around after the crash but appeared to be in pain and was subsequently transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Dennis paramedics.

Van vs. pole in Barnstable
A woman was taken to CCH with unknown injuries after this crash on Route 6A in Barnstable.
BARNSTABLE - At 11:45 a.m. Tuesday Barnstable Police and Fire responded to a single vehicle crash with injuries on Route 6A at Braggs Lane in Barnstable. A Mazda minivan struck a pole on the driver's side and wound up on the side of the road with its front wheel ripped off. Rescuers had to take the female driver, the sole occupant, out of the passenger's side because the driver's side was destroyed. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries.

Car vs. pedestrian under investigation in Sandwich
SANDWICH - Sandwich Police continue to investigate a car vs. pedestrian crash Sunday night. 39-year-old Rory Quintanilla of Richfield Springs, NY was walking on Ploughed Neck Road when he was struck by a car driven by 17-year-old Robert O. Savoy of Forestdale. Quintanilla remains in Cape Cod Hospital in stable condition. Savoy's car veered across the road and struck a tree. Both Savoy and his passenger, 17-year-old Michael Clancy, were treated and released at Cape Cod Hospital.
Police seek vehicle that allegedly struck pedestrian
HYANNIS - At 2:15 p.m. Tuesday Barnstable Police and Hyannis Fire responded to Cromwell Court at 168 Barnstable Road. A man reportedly limped into the manager's office and told them he had been struck by a car on Barnstable Road and that the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. Hyannis rescuers packaged the man and took him to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Police issued an all points bulletin for a 4-door gray Mazda sedan wanted in connection with the reported hit & run.

you should stay with septic systems. I left Eastham to go to Lukes at 2:50 and gave up to return at 5:25. Can we figure out a way to move wrecks and have the reconstruction team move a bit faster?? It ain't no fun looking at the Bridge St.tidal flat for 2 hours.
How's the septic coming?? Are you brushing your finger nails before returning to work??
Aloha,

as for usps02651 since i'm quite sure that you have federal guidelines to follow at the PO you might if you try thinking really really hard for a moment that there are protocols and guidelines for Medflight to follow. Cutting down trees is not one of them. Here's a thought there just may be specific landing zones established in every town that would ensure the safety of those flying the helicopter and those on the ground. where the hell do you go in your head to come up with this crap?
For every ones sake and for those you are disregarding educate yourself on something other than mail slots.
1. Are you striving for the gold in ignorance?
2. Why do you keep choosing to remain ignorant of any subject you speak about?
I don't need to be compensated for my time. Looking at several pictures in this story, I don't see too much reconstruction going on.Five guys standing around ain't my idea of reconstruction. What the hell does a citizen police academy have to do with my knowing about the"rights of those involved". If an accident on the main artery of a town in the middle of tourist season happens at 2:45, I would think that all the"reconstruction" in the world would take less than 3 hours.
I'll try Luke's again today.

I'm not whining about something I know nothing about. A 2.5 hour to Orleans and back is a bit frustrating. I do know that. I said nothing about firemen and policemen. Why don't you share your thoughts about a timely solution to the problem.
take a cab to luke's liquors and save a life so that the reconstruction team won't have to send a report to your insurance company. The world looks pretty righteous from the bottom of the bottle huh? is that why you could care less about the people involved because you were DESPERATE for a drink?
take a class on reconstruction... they measure every inch of the scene to calculate speed, direction, force, here maybe this will help... It's like CSI for accidents...
here's another thought the people responding for PHOTOS and RECONSTRUCTION are coming from OTIS...
let's see do you think the traffic impeded them a bit? the men in the photos are EMS and they are securing the scene from the public so that the SCENE OF THE CRIME can be analyzed!!!!
get it?????
What does that stand for??? American Motor Company?? You and the rest of the bashers can take a lovely taste of my buttocks. You really need to think about your writing. "the scene of the crime"??? What the hell does that mean??
Two cars going in opposite directions whacked each other. Some of the occupants were not wearing seat belts. {maybe that's the crime} If you really want a crime scene, ask the Schell to take you to Kendrick Ave in Wellfleet. As for Luke's and a cab, great comeback. As for the whining issue, talk to the Schel about that also. He/she is the champ at that.IT IS ALL ABOUT HIM/HER.
I think it's time for a DESPERATE drink!! Cya at the scene. OK 10-4 Over and out.
Thanks for your kindnesses in advance.

Thinking of you.
Wow
PS
Luke's is in Brewster.Alonger ride for my muscatel.
I love you
Once again, you add your jaded views into a discussion like you know it to be the gospel. So, your feeling is that all of the Police, Fire, and EMS workers at that accident stood around, because they WANTED to stand out in the hot sun, they WANTED to have traffic rerouted and delayed...because it is something fun to do? I just don't understand your thought process. I wouldn't begin to think I know the first thing about working for the Postal Service, even though I could come up with plenty of anecdotal thoughts about it. But I still wouldn't begin to assume that, let's say, you use a mail sorter because you're lazy and just want to stand around and drink coffee.
In the same right, your assumption that they "just wanted something to do" is just as off-base.
I know the couple that were in the minivan, and I hope and pray for full recoveries of everyone involved. Even those of you that were stuck in traffic.
Here's another chance to bash the cops, fire, capedoggie, the mailman, and anybody else you are pissed at:
ROUTE 6 IS CLOSED AGAIN
Gotta get the Schell and go to Luke's
Happy Trails
That's childs play .49 is just getting started.
Have a local day!!
Its about 52 hours since we started our rant about the accident on Rte 6 near Fort Hill. Do we have an update on the condition of the folks involved in the accident??
Just wondering, and putting on my body armor for the next onslaught.

PS Local 521; we poached some salmon in the wine that you thought I drank!!
