Smoky fire at Mashpee apartment complex
MASHPEE - A small but smoky fire damaged a Mashpee apartment complex Sunday
afternoon. Firefighters were called to the Ashers Path Apartments on
Carlton Drive around 4:30 p.m. Firefighters assisted other residents out
of the building and set up a fan to clear the smoke from an apparent cooking incident. One resident was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
NStar says Saturday's power problems were all related
HARWICH - NStar says a circuit breaker malfunction was to blame for the outage in the Harwich/Dennis region and that the problem led to the trouble at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis (See yesterday's post). But what do these explanations really mean? Is this a sign of electric system fatigue? CWN was contacted by Patrick Mehr who is a member of the Lexington, Mass Electric Utility Committee who asked some of the same questions. He recently wrote an op-ed piece for the Lexington Minuteman which you can read here. The opinions expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the views of Cape Wide News, Cape Cod Today or its sponsors.
57 Run for the Fallen
YARMOUTH - On a picturesque Cape Cod morning 57 runners from throughout Massachusetts and as far away as Connecticut and New York completed the 5-Mile Run for the Fallen this morning in South Yarmouth.
The special guest of honor, two-time Purple Heart recipient United States Army Corporal Stephen Johnson of Mashpee, led the way and was recognized for his heroism in battle and dedication to our country.
The event was a great success raising $822.00 for the Wounded Warrior Project and helped demonstrate steadfast support for our troops as they continue to fight our country's battles and help people in need all over the world.
