Kevin Ford was arrested Tuesday morning without incident in front of his Hyannis home.

hyannisarrest092308bHYANNIS  -  At 11:20 a.m. Tuesday CapeCodToday investigative reporter Peter Robbins was present at the arrest of Kevin Ford of 31 Norris Street in Hyannis.  Detective Sgt. Russell Giammarco of the Yarmouth Police Department, with the assistance of the Barnstable Police Department, made the arrest without incident.

31-year-old Ford was charged with two (2) counts of rape of a child with force and one (1) count of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14.  According to Sgt. Walter Warren of the Yarmouth Police Department, the acts occurred over the past year,  "and more than once."

The children, whose identities are being withheld, are not relatives of Ford.   According to Sgt. Warren,  they are 3 and 6-years-old.

Kevin Ford is being held on  $250,000.00 cash bail and will be arraigned in Barnstable First District Court Wednesday.  According to police, he will most likely be remanded to Superior Court after the indictment process.

No other information was currently available, however information will follow as the case unfolds.

Marstons Mills man sentenced to 18-20 years in stabbing death

BARNSTABLE - A Marstons Mills man faces 18 to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday in Barnstable Superior Court to voluntary manslaughter in the October 2006 stabbing death of Anthony Rano.

Police said Alexander Phillips, 20, stabbed Rano with a combat-style knife in a fight at a home at the intersection of Cammet Way and Cammet Road.

Michael Trudeau, first assistant district attorney for the Cape and Islands, said the two men previously had attended Cape Cod Regional Technical High School together.

The incident began when a woman living with Phillips had an argument with him. She telephoned Rano, with whom she previously had a relationship. Phillips ended the phone conversation.

Trudeau said a series of threatening cellular phone calls between Rano and Phillips then ensued. Rano told Phillips he was coming to the house.

When Rano arrived, he reportedly got the jump on Phillips and began choking him. Phillips then stabbed Rano.

Trudeau said the district attorney's office opted for the plea after extensive discussions with the victim's family and after the status of a key witness changed for reasons Trudeau declined to discuss.

Phillips had been facing a charge of first-degree murder. If convicted, he faced life in prison. Trudeau said defendants under law cannot plead guilty to first-degree murder, but can plead to a lesser charge.

I rarely indulge in "if women ran the world..." speculation, but let me tell you, if grown straight men, and not women and children, were the ones getting raped, I would bet all my wordly goods that the sentence for a first time offender would be life in prison, period.

3 and 6 years old.....my God I hate these people who prey on our kids like this. I hate having to be in so much fear for my and everyone else's children because of sh%%tbags who do this. I hate having to rely on inmate justice because our own justice system gives criminals more rights than they do for victims- especially children. When are these people going to pay for their crimes- Where is the judicial system's empathy? I have no faith in the courts down here when it comes to these bastards, they always give them light sentences and many don't even get classified- even when it's obvious they should. If he's guilty he'll get a slap on the wrist and be let out as just another useless lump of sh**t we all have to worry about.

I keep wishing that Sasquatches were real, so that this guy could experience a similar level of much-bigger-than-me raping.
