Connecticut joins Massachusetts and California in allowing same-sex couples to marry

Connecticut Supreme Court rules, 4 to 3 to allow same-sex couples to marry

Third state in the US to guarantee equal protection in marriage licensing

The Connecticut Supreme Court today ruled that gay couples in Connecticut must be able to obtain marriage licenses the same as straight couples can.

The decision marks the third state to guarantee equal protection in marriage licensing for same-sex couples -both a legal and political victory for the LGBT community. And the political victory comes at a particularly helpful time -less than four weeks away from the California ballot measure on whether to reverse that state’s supreme court decision recognizing equal marriage rights.

The Connecticut decision was a 4 to 3 vote, with the three dissenting justices each submitting their own brief. ... Bay Windows.

Connecticut Supreme Court legalizes same-sex marriage

Connecticut became the third state to legalize same-sex marriage today in a 4-3 decision by the state Supreme Court.

In 2005, Connecticut legalized civil unions without a court order.

In an 85-page decision issued at 11:30 a.m., the court ruled that the state had "failed to establish adequate reason to justify the statutory ban on same sex marriage."

The justices noted in the majority opinion that they recognized "as the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court did in Goodridge v. Dept. of Public Health … that 'our decision marks a change in the history of our marriage law.'" ...  Boston Globe.

The good thing about Connecticut gay marriages is that both partners can watch the stock ticker during sex.
