Barnstable Patriot endorses Anastasia Welsh Perrino
Great news for campaign as Election Day quickly approaches
![]()
October 24, 2008 - The office of Register of Probate is one of administrative, non-political duties and is best filled by someone already in possession of those skills, and that's Anastasia Welsh Perrino. The office of Register is among those that ideally would be appointed if the state's superstructure could be trusted not to make it a repository for patronage. That's been the case in other circumstances, and i t's&nb sp;likely best to keep the voters involved.
But the position remains one of administrative, non-political duties and is best filled by someone already in possession of those skills, and that's Anastasia Welsh Perrino.
For someone who says she's not a politician, Welsh Perrino ran one of the tightest, well-heeled campaigns we've seen for countywide office. If she puts half that energy into serving as Register, the county will be well served.
Eric Turkington's work in the Legislature has reaped benefits for his constituents and the Cape more broadly. It's not a straight line to conclude that his skills as a legislator translate well into the administrative role of Register.
Welsh Perrino has five years of in-house experience, as well as 15 more as an attorney appearing in the court, to guide decisions and approaches to enhanced technology and easing the use of the court by nonprofessionals.
