New Saw Doctors documentary, CD star Melody Tent
Film details Irish band's U.S. tour this past summer
Annual Tent performances draw enthusiatic crowd
There's still time. Any Saw Doctors fan who has yet to head for Ireland for the debut of the band's new documentary film, Clare Island to Cape Cod, still can hop a jet for the film's debut at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Button Factory in Dublin.
New Saw Doctors DVD features Tent.
The Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis plays a starring role in the documentary, which captures a Saw Doctors performance this past August before a hot, sweaty and universally ebullient crowd.
For those Cape and U.S. fans who aren't able to get away for Tuesday's debut, not to despair: both a DVD of the documentary and a CD of the performance, titled Live at the Melody Tent, will be available starting Friday, Nov. 28, at the band's Web site, sawdoctors.com.
Although the list of tunes included in the DVD and the CD vary slightly, both include songs such as "Green and Red of Mayo," "Clare Island" and "N17."
The Doctors selected the Tent for inclusion in the documentary because of the spirited reception they receive there each year.
The documentary, shot by Steven Lock, details the Galway band's U.S. tour this past August, including candid moments as well as footage from their performances.
According to Hot Press, Lock also tells about the festivities in Tuam, Ireland celebrating the October day when the band got its first No.1 record on the Irish charts in 17 years with their cover of "About You Now" by the Sugababes.

To help promote the DVD release of the film, scheduled before the end of the month, the Saw Doctors will perform at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Thanksgiving Day.

The energy was incredible & a great time was had by all.
Can't remember the last time I saw the audience STAND for the ENTIRE performance by any group @ the tent.
Looking forward to the video!
