Scammers hawk Dennisport vacation rental on Craigslist
Fake Posting Offers Rental Property

Boston TC station WCVB reported that a man who owns a rental home in Dennisport found scammers offering up his home for rental on the Web site Craigslist. Peter Harback said that he spotted the house advertised on the site once last fall, and it turned up again last week.

The 3,500-square-foot rental home, which has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, rents for $6,800 per month, but scam advertisements on Craigslist were soliciting less than half that amount to supposedly rent the property.

"I just would hate to have seen the look on people's face if they came here thinking that, you know, here they are and they're going to have a beautiful week and have nothing," said Harback.

Realtor Debra Johnson, who has the exclusive listing on the property, said that she discovered the fake listing only after a tenant who had arranged to rent the property from her called up two days later and questioned why the home was available at a severely discounted rate online... KCTV5.

US Gov't cuts red tape on offshore renewable energy

Salazar told the committee that the Interior Department was "very ready to move" on offshore wind energy projects. He said the department will make a final decision "in the next several months" on whether to give final approval to the controversial Cape Wind project off the coast of Cape Cod.

With the aim of ending a regulatory turf war, U.S. government agencies on Tuesday said they would work together to cut redtape and spur development of offshore renewable energy projects.

Under the agreement, the Interior Department will have jurisdiction over offshore wind and solar energy projects, while the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will oversee offshore projects that generate electricity from wave and tidal currents.

"This agreement will help sweep aside red tape...our renewable energy is too important for bureaucratic turf battles to slow down our progress," said Interior Secretary Ken Salazar... Reuters.

The Obama White House is trying to collect public feedback in a more organized and consolidated way than the Clinton administration did 15 years ago, when Hillary Rodham Clinton drew criticism for the amount of time she spent in sessions across the country. Late last year, as he was preparing to take office, Obama invited volunteers to hold community discussions about healthcare and created a website to invite further comment.
