Pot package nets Dennis Police over 10 lbs--street value $30K

Dennis marijuana arrest Tuesday, nearly 10 lbs sent to suspect through the post office

Police need help finding suspect after failure to appear in court

WEST DENNIS - Around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, acting on information developed by U.S. Postal Inspectors, Dennis Police detectives assisted by agents of the Postal Service, Drug Enforcement Administration’s - Task Force, Harwich Police, Massachusetts State Police and Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, arrested Andre K. Sterling, 23, of 207 Division Street in West Harwich for various motor vehicle violations and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.

The arrest occurred after police conducted surveillance of the West Dennis Post Office and observed Mr. Sterling enter the post office and retrieve a package from the postal clerk which was believed to contain illegal drugs.  When confronted by officers in the parking lot, Mr. Sterling assaulted a Dennis Police officer and attempted to drive away.

Police later obtained a search warrant for the package retrieved by Mr. Sterling and discovered approximately 10 pounds of marijuana inside.  The estimated street value of the seized drug is $30,000.

Additionally over $9,000 in US currency was seized from Mr. Sterling at the time of his arrest.

Mr. Sterling was released on cash bail following his arrest, but failed to appear for his arraignment in Orleans District Court on Wednesday morning.  A default of court warrant was issued for his arrest.

Mr. Sterling is described as a black male, 5'11" tall and approximately 160 lbs.  He has brown hair, a mustache and goatee and speaks with a Jamaican accent.  Mr. Sterling also wears a large diamond stud earring in his left ear.

He is also known to use the alias of Timothy Lamont Perryman.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation or Andre Sterling's whereabouts is asked to call the Dennis Police Department at 508-394-1315.

Pot is NOT legal, although anything under 1 ounce is just a fine and not an arrest. This guy is probably back in Jamaica by now!

Who mails 10 lbs of marijuana? LMAO!!! Clearly he didn't pay off the right people. Next time break off the postal workers and you won't have that problem, lol. But hey, there's still time to pay off the judge.

30k seems a bit off. If he was selling a quarter of an ounce for 40 then he'd be making 25,600 off 10 pounds. However, if he was selling an 8th of an ounce for 30 then he'd net 38,400. I'll admit those prices are from a good decade ago, lol, but I imagine if anything, they've probably gone up.

Another great job by one of our liberal judges. After all that work and a cop getting assaulted, let the guy go on a low bail. Now it'll be twice as hard to find this guy again.
