Ptown's hottest June groom; Duck stuck, man stuck too; Fishermen's Fair Share; Audra's new argument; Man convicted of cat cruelty; "Golden Boys" star dies

Marc Jacob: a Ptown June groom?

Rumors are rampant on Cape Cod that designing divo Marc Jacobs will finally tie the knot with guypal Lorenzo Martone in Provincetown this weekend (that's his shop above and Marc on right).
The clothes horse, Madonna pal and creative director for Louis Vuitton reportedly got engaged to his Brazilian ad-exec S.O. in March and they had some sort of not-really-kosher ceremony in Martone's native country. However, should the boys decide to swap "I dos," they can do so legally in Massachusetts. Jacobs' longtime business partner Robert Duffy has a waterfront manse on Commercial Street that would be a lovely spot for a summer wedding... Herald.

Director insists Carradine death is no suicide
Actor last starred in Chatham movie

In an ironic turn, David Carradine's last film made in Chatham two years ago included a funeral scene. He is shown here with his hand on his cap at the Chatham cemetary on Crowell Road.

The Cape Cod director who worked with David Carradine on one of his last films yesterday said the "Kung Fu" actor seemed "normal and upbeat" when he spoke to him a week and a half ago - and he does not believe that Carradine committed suicide.

"It has to be foul play or an accident," said Dan Adams, who directed the "Kill Bill" star in the 2008 flick "The Golden Boys." "It's out of the question, as far as I'm concerned."

Carradine, 72, was found naked and hanging from a rope in the closet of his luxury Bangkok hotel room Thursday, Thai police said. There was no sign of other people in the room and no sign of assault. An autopsy is underway... Herald.

Read about "Americana". Carradine's "Americana" was one from the heart. It was doubly sad to learn of the death of actor David Carradine in an apparent suicide Thursday in Bangkok, having witnessed one of the more crushing failures in his artistic life... Reuters.

Plymouth man convicted of animal cruelty in death of young cat
Cape MDs say treatment would cost over $10,000

A Plymouth man's sentencing after an animal-cruelty conviction was delayed pending a psychological evaluation. Robert J. Frates, 26, of 2 Bay Colony Drive collapsed in tears Thursday after Plymouth District Court Judge Rosemary Minehan found him guilty of killing a young cat in September 2007.

Police said witnesses told them Frates slammed the small cat on the ground, then tucked the animal into his waistband in the parking lot of the CVS store on Samoset Street before driving away... Doctors at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Bourne said the young cat suffered fractured ribs, puncture wounds, dislocated hips and other injuries that would cost more than $10,000 to treat... Cape Wind is Moving Ahead,
Audra's new argument

With super permit, wind farm backers say road mostly clear to build on Horseshoe Shoal; legal challenges still loom.It has been 2,755 days since the Cape Wind project was first formally proposed.
It is a controversy older than the war in Iraq. Hostilities began only a few weeks after the war in Afghanistan. And, as in those other conflicts, indeed in any protracted battle, it's crucial to maintain morale of the troops, particularly when your allies are dropping off and it looks as if you're losing. Surveys show public opinion in the state is strongly in favor of the wind farm, and the Patrick administration in Boston, too.
Thus Audra Parker (on right), executive director of the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound, the main community group opposing the Cape Wind development, has been running a new argument lately... Vineyard Gazette.

Fishermen Ask for a Fair Share
Catch conflict, regs may land fleet in court

The changes that the fishermen seek are significant and politically charged. At the same time, improvements in the science of data collection hold out hope for the future, fishermen say - if they can stay in business... "The law says stock assessments are made using the best available data, but it was never in line with what we were seeing," Captain Ruhle said on Tuesday.

Last month, he took Montauk fishermen out on his trawler to demonstrate the use of scientifically designed net that has been approved by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The survey is being conducted between Cape Hatteras and Cape Cod within four miles of the shore in cooperation with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, which is the parent agency of the National Marine Fisheries Service, the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council, and the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission... Duck rescuer stuck in Harwich mud

A tender-hearted kayaker found himself waist deep in mud yesterday after he and his son tried to rescue a duckling, reports the Cape Cod Times.

It began around 2:30 p.m. off Chase Road when the man and his son - whose names were not released by the police of fire department - spotted a young duck stuck on the clam flats with a clam shell stuck to its leg. They rescued the duck but as they approached shore, it got away from them, according to a fire department spokesman. The father went after the duckling and soon found himself waist-deep in mud... David Carradine was in real life much as his Kung Fu character was on the screen...great physical shape, energetic, and determined (even in his 70s). On the set of Golden Boys, he was sometimes in front of the cameras all day, always ready professionally and always cheerful.

Personally, he was a regular guy and a good guy to be around on breaks or at lunch.

I was shocked to hear the word "suicide." Although we can never tell what goes through one's mind, and anybody can make any supposition, I hope the Bangkok police investigate this one thoroughly.

I loved DaveC as a longhaired Pop Mystic very much like his dad... but he did rip off Bruce Lee really bad in swiping Bruce's whole series proposal to ABC for KUNG FU. Bruce went back to HK and died way too young. It looks at the moment as if Dave went the way that Pop Mystic cartoonist Vaughan"Cheech Wizard"Bode went in '77... from autoasphyxiation as part of a popular underground psychedelic Sex Magick onanistic ritual. The jury is out on the effect upon one's soul and karma to 'go' in this manner...

Why in a closet? Part of the ritual... may be a return-to-the-womb reenactment of the soul entering the foetus thru the pineal gland on the 49th day after conception, after the 49 days in the Bardo between incarnations... it's Tibetan Tantra-work, make no mistake... and you need the coathanger-rack...

You are creeping me out Ned. A return to the womb reenactment? My distant memory, though quite fuzzy, does not include a closet pole in my mother's womb.

This sort of thing (if suicide) seems to be more common recently. Namely, author David Foster Wallace and more recently, boat-designerPhil Bolger in Gloucester. I know Wallace was suffering from depression, but Bolger was experiencing senility and who knows, perhaps he prefered to go out by his own hand rather than slowly evolve into a turnip under the tender ministrations of a caregiver with a third-grade education and a criminal record as a sexual abuser? Who knows -- in Carradine's case it may be helpful to know something about his recent medical history.

It's not autoasphyxiation, lol. It's autoerotic asphyxiation. He was rubbing one out with a rope around his neck to increase pleasure and accidentally hung himself. It's not some odd cult worship a return to the womb crap, lmao!!! Where the halibut did you come up with that nonsense? Intense orgasms are a physiological side effect of oxygen deprivation. Go figure.

RE: Animal Cruelty conviction - It is very rare to see anyone in this area charged (much less convicted) of animal cruelty. Good for the police on this one! Animal cruelty very often escalates to violence against people.

In response to the rude person's 14th Comment on CC2Day ever~ those who say don't know, and those who know don't say. I'd send you the link, but now I don't like you. As I said, one of the great cartoonists of the 70s, who I'd gotten to meet only a month prior, was perhaps the first publicized case of 'EA' and had written extensively about his previous experiments with it... Let's cool it with the intracommentarial mockery- it's so '00's.
