The Local Cape Chambers Collaborative presents award to MOTT

Recently, local Cape Chamber executives met with Betsy Wall, the Director of the Mass Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) at the new Visitor Center at the foot of the Sagamore Bridge to discuss the upcoming tourism season.

Immediately following the June 1st meeting, they presented Ms. Wall with an award from the LC3, The Local Cape Chambers Collaborative.  LC3 is a 2-year old organization made up of twelve of the local Cape Cod Chambers. The executives of the local chambers, together with their board members, work collaboratively with each other directly, rather than through the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

LC3 has had relative success to date and on this occasion wanted to recognize one of the people and agencies that has helped with that success.

It was with that in mind that they honored Betsy Wall, of MOTT with the Excellence in Public Service Award.  MOTT, a state agency, promotes tourism and Massachusetts as a vacation destination. The agency's budget is derived from a percentage of the state hotel occupancy tax.

The Local Cape Chambers Collaborative will be recognizing other champions of the LC3 later this year at their 1st Annual Meeting.

Curious why do we have both a Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and the LC3? Is it because the CCCofC isn't responsive to local concerns? Or is it a power grab?
