Yarmouth Police arrest woman for multiple domestic violence attacks

Charges include attempt to commit murder and mayhem

Carrie Lynn Guenard tried hiding under a blanket in an effort to elude Yarmouth Police.

WEST YARMOUTH - On Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 1:28 a.m. Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Christopher Van Ness and Kevin Antonovitch went to cottage 20 of the Beachwood Cottages on Route 28 in West Yarmouth to serve an arrest warrant for a woman who had attacked her boyfriend on two separate occasions in the past 2 days.

Patrol Officers Van Ness and Antonovitch observed the suspect inside the cottage through a window.  After knocking several times at the front door, the suspect’s boyfriend opened the door and the suspect was found hiding under a blanket in a bedroom.

The suspect was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant and transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and held overnight.  She was subsequently transported to the Barnstable District Court this morning for arraignment.

The suspect had been arrested by Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Richard White on Sunday, July 5th for throwing a sandwich at and punching her boyfriend numerous times in the face. She was arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Monday, July 6th for Domestic Assault and Battery.

At approximately 9:06 p.m. on Monday night, Yarmouth Police responded to another attack by the suspect at a restaurant on Route 28 in West Yarmouth in which the suspect’s boyfriend reported being assaulted with a pair of scissors, grabbed by the head, and shoved onto a lit stove burner.  The suspect fled prior to the arrival of Police Officers and an area search was conducted with negative results.  Yarmouth Police obtained a warrant for her arrest on Tuesday morning and the suspect was located early this morning.

Carrie Lynn Guenard, 49 of the Beachwood Condominums, 638 Route 28 in West Yarmouth, was charged with the following:

  1. Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (scissors)
  2. Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (lit burner)
  3. Assault and Battery
  4. Attempt to Commit Murder
  5. Mayhem

Wild stuff. This blog has some of the best public safety features of all reporting, not just Internet journalism. For crazy law enforcement shenanigans in Barnstable, try www.welcometobarnstable.com. Many of the social and criminal problems known to Barnstable County generated from substandard human services. Once the Cape became a magnet for criminal offenders and narcotics abusers, safety in this pristine and naturally beautiful locale was compromised.

The issues are multidepartmental and there are many parties responsible for allowing the human services to proliferate at a negligent standard. I watch this blog religiously for indication of improvement for the standard for public safety.

Thanks!

If this is the woman I think it is I'm VERY surprised her liver hasn't given out on her already. When I knew her back in the mid 90's she was already a raging alcoholic and pill head. She was living in Hyannis at the time so I'm not sure if it's the same person or not. I seem to recall her stealing credit cards from a male relative and then allowing her 16 year old daughter to go on a shopping spree with them. Being the supportive mother she was, she even bailed her daughter out of jail when she got arrested for it.

So the boyfriend that opened the door for police - same one she assaulted? Does he not have a responsiblity to report she was there when he knew they were looking for her? Sounds like a classic case of dysfunctional relationship and enabling......
