Breaking and Entering arrest in Harwich

HARWICH - At 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, Officer Keith Kannally was dispatched to the CVS in Harwichport for a report of a female shoplifter in the store.  The suspect had left the area prior to Officer Kannally’s arrival.  The store manager had obtained the license plate number of the vehicle that the suspect was in.  Officers checked the address where the vehicle was registered, but could not locate the vehicle at that time.

Officer Kannally and Officer Brian Cranshaw then responded to a residence where friends of the suspect lived.  As the officers arrived at the house, the suspect's vehicle was seen leaving the area.  Officers were able to stop the vehicle and detain the suspect for further questioning regarding the shoplifting incident.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Christopher Taber (right), 25, of Harwich.  His female passenger was identified as Jasmine Lincoln, 22, of Dennis.  Taber and Lincoln told the officers they were driving around smoking marijuana.  After some questioning, Taber was issued a citation for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.  The vehicle was removed from the scene by a licensed operator. 

Approximately four hours later, Officer Kannally was dispatched to an address on Herring Run Road--the same address where he had observed Taber and Lincoln leaving earlier in the shift.  The homeowner had arrived home and discovered that a computer, jewelry and some cash were missing from the house.

Officer Kannally was able to locate Mr. Taber and Ms. Lincoln at a motel in Yarmouth.  With the assistance of the Yarmouth Police Department, Taber was placed under arrest.  Ms. Lincoln was interviewed regarding the house break on Herring Run Road.  As a result of the interview she will be summoned to court to face a charge of Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with Intent to Commit a Felony.

Taber was transported to the Harwich Police Department and then to the Barnstable County Correctional Facility where he was held on $500 cash bail.  Taber will face one count of Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with Intent to Commit a Felony.

Driver charged in fatal crash in Bourne

Crash killed one, injured two on June 29th

BOURNE - The driver who lost control of his Porsche and crashed into a tree killing 21-year-old Cassandra Flynn early the morning of June 29th, has been charged.   Jonathan Muir, also 21, of Falmouth, has been charged with Motor Vehicle Homicide While Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Additional charges also include Two Counts of Causing Serious Bodily Injury While Under the Influence of Alcohol , Operating Negligently to Endanger, Marked Lines Violations and Speeding according to the Boston Globe.

Chatham traffic notice for Post Office Road today

CHATHAM - On Thursday, July 09, 2009, a section of Post Office Road will be closed to through traffic.  This restriction will be temporary.  This restriction will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Post Office Road will be closed at the intersection of Main Street.  Post Office Road will be open at the intersection of Depot Road.

All of the business on Post Office Road will be open, and all traffic will have to enter and exit from Depot Road.  This roadway will be restricted to allow members of the Cape Cod Regional Crash Team to investigate a past incident.

The Chatham Police Department appreciates the public’s patience during this roadway restriction.
