Man dies after Wareham Harbor jet ski accident

A Saturday joy ride turns fatal for one young man

WAREHAM - Above, the Wareham Police and EMTs transport a victim of an apparent watercraft accident into the Tobey Hospital emergency room in Wareham Saturday afternoon. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.

Police found the jet ski in the Wareham River and the victim floating nearby was rushed to Tobey Hospital.  

The Wareham Harbormaster transported a jet ski accident victim to the dock to meet an awaiting ambulance.

Radio reports indicated that they were performing CPR on the victim after they found him in the water near the Wareham River Saturdayaround 5:30 p.m.

What made it a "joy ride"? Were there any witnesses describing it as such?
Just curious, as all definitions of the word connote recklessness and disregard for sefety.
In the absence of supporting facts,(witnessses stating he was indeed reckless) I believe the use of the word is improper.
