Artist George Booth Exhibit at the Guyer Art Barn through August 9th
Artist reception to be held Friday, July 31st
George Booth, will be featured in a solo exhibit, Recent Works on Paper at the Guyer Barn at 250 South Street in Hyannis, now through August 9th, 2009. Everyone is invited to the
artist reception, Friday, July 31st from 6 to 9PM. The exhibit runs through August 9th, Friday through Sunday, 11AM-4PM.
George Booth’s strong, bold figure drawings/paintings are powerful. There is tremendous emotion in his work. Booth states, "My work is about the process of drawing, more than any concern with final result. I use a combination of media so I can be more flexible and responsive while working, be 'in-the-moment', and see where the image goes or stops or changes direction. When change becomes necessary, I prefer to be radical, to open up possibilities once more. Inviting this chaos allows me and the image to happen, and is the motivation for my work."
Guyer Art Barn Director, Mellissa Morris says about the artist, "George Booth is Sigmund Freud meets Pietro Jacometti!"
Guyer Barn is a showcase for emerging and established local artists. It is a community art space, a working artist studio and professional artist gallery supporting and promoting the arts. Located at 250 South Street Hyannis in Hyannis. For more information call 508-862-4990 or visit www.harboryourarts.com.
