Arrest made in Falmouth embezzlement case; Two arrests in Truro; Busy 24 hours for Yarmouth PD this past Friday

Arrest made in Falmouth embezzlement case

FALMOUTH - Falmouth Police have arrested Armine Sabatini, 45, of Mashpee, for allegedly embezzling over $80,000 from the Woods Hole Steamship Authority.

Last week, the Woods Hole Steamship Authority reported that Ms. Sabatini, a former bookkeeper, had embezzled a substantial amount of funds from their organization. The embezzlement of funds is estimated at $80,000, but may actually exceed $100,000.

The case is currently under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Two arrests in Truro this previous week

TRURO - The Truro Police Department responded to over 100 calls during the period of September 28 through October 4 including several reports of suspicious activity as well as offering mutual aid to the Truro Fire Department and the Wellfleet and Provincetown Police Departments.  Two arrests were made during this period:

On Monday, September 28 at 4:14 p.m., Michael Andrew Lord, 31, of Provincetown, was arrested at Route 6 and Great Hollow Road by Officer Nicholas Ambrosini and charged with Speeding and Operating a Motor Vehicle with License/Registration Revoked.

On Sunday, October 4 at 2:30 a.m., Eric H. Cutting, 60, of Amsbury, MA was arrested on Route 6 by Officer Carrie F. DeAngelo for OUI Liquor, Equipment Violation, Miscellaneous MV and Possession of a Class D Substance.

Busy 24 hours for Yarmouth Police this past Friday

YARMOUTH - On Friday, October 2nd, the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department responded to 91 calls.  The following are some of the more significant events during that period.

On Friday, October 2 at 8:17 a.m., officers responded to a Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle call on Barnacle Road in Yarmouth Port. The victim reported that prescription drugs were stolen from the vehicle during the night. The case is currently under investigation.

On Friday, October 2 at 10:15 a.m., officers responded to an Arson call at 210 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth. The Y-D Red Sox  dugout was burned sometime overnight. The case is currently under investigation.

On Friday, October 2 at 2:10 p.m., officers responded to a Stalking call on Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth.  Youths reported a suspicious man at the bus stop on Winding Brook Road that morning.  The case is currently under investigation.

On Friday, October 2 at 10:12 p.m., officers responded to a Motor Vehicle Crash on at Union Street and Starbuck Lane in Yarmouth Port. The suspect had fled the scene. State Police were called in to assist.  The suspect, Frank S. Berry Jr., was later captured. See below.

Arrested PersonCharges, Arresting Officer

On Friday, October 2 at 10:12 p.m., Frank S. Berry Jr., 42, was arrested on Whistler Lane in Yarmouth Port by Patrol Office Erica Wenberg. Berry was charged with OUI Liquor and Leaving the Scene of a Crash in connection with a motor vehicle crash that occurred twenty minutes earlier at the intersection of Union Street and Starbuck Lane in Yarmouth Port.

On Friday, October 2 at 10:59 p.m., Trevor Dean Maler, 18, was arrested on Baker's Path in South Yarmouth by an officer responding to a call at a home on that street. Maler was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery and Felony Destruction of Property.

On Saturday, October 3 at 1:15 a.m., Jeffrey E. Dunn, 42, was arrested on Route 28 in South Yarmouth during a vehicle stop. Dunn was pulled over and arrested by an officer who witnessed him driving erractically. Dunn was charged with OUI Liquor, 2nd Offense and Driving to Endanger.
