Koch continues with his "theatre of the absurd"

As Washington Correspondent for Cape Cod Today, blogging at my "Washington Window" column about the Kennedy-Koch anti-Cape Wind "theatre of the absurd," having Koch's Palm Beach neighbors in on the fun is long overdue.

Hopefully your upscale, educated readers will have some additional insights for us.

Currently, Koch's previous effort to paint the so-called "Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound" various shades of "Cousteau Green" by hiring a former business guy from the old Cousteau orgs as his highly-paid "spokesmodel," having failed, Koch has hired some "hang around the fort Indians" as mercenaries to mount an attack on Cape Wind.

The New York Times article last Monday says it all. Beyond its hilarity, it illustrates the depths to which Skipper Bill has gone to protect his "viewshed" and the famed Kennedy Sailing Grounds. And more seriously and sadly, despite our current President's supposed commitment to "alternative energy" options, the "faux-Native American sacred" arguments are providing a fig leaf for the Obama administration to avoid approving the Cape Wind project, despite Jim Gordon and company having jumped through all of the endless hoops laid down in front of him with flying colors.

Koch's desperate "Indian attack" is an ironic reversal of how Greenpeace and others used the "Native American card" to oppose Yucca Mountain, the pending nuclear waste repository, and other projects.

People who know Bill Koch are unsurprised at his "ruthless skill" at adapting to sea conditions, given that he's a world class champion sailor. What's most sad is how some in the "environmental" community, like Sierra Club and some in Audubon, have been backing away from previous endorsements of Cape Wind as Obama's waffling bubbles up.
