Cotuit woman runs new program to find homes for livestock
A bad economy can cause problems many could never anticipate. Because of the expense associated with raising and caring for farm animals, some people find themselves no longer able to pay for their livestock.
A new program on Cape Cod will help those struggling financially to find homes for their horses and other beloved farm animals. The Cape and Islands Farm Bureau Horse Rescue and Referral Service will also help with emergency expenses if necessary and adoptions for those unable to care for their horses physically or financially... Baroness Goudie facing allegations over second-home expenses
British noble also owns a home on Cape Cod
A close friend of the Prime Minister was facing allegations last night that she claimed £230,000 in expenses by declaring that a flat she owns in Glasgow is her main home. Baroness Goudie, a Labour donor and fundraiser, has lived most of her life in London and currently shares a £1.5 million house in the city with her husband, James, a barrister.
According to the Sunday Times, she has told the House of Lords that her main address is actually 400 miles away in a Glasgow apartment block. This has enabled her to claim subsistence allowances intended as payments for peers who are based outside the capital and need help in meeting the cost of accommodation in the capital... The Goudies also have a home in Cape Cod, on the east coast of America... The Telegraph.

Sagamore Bridge project frustrates Cape businesses

Photos by Bourne blogger Ana Paulina who has been a steady and valuable chronicler of the Sagamore Bridge and Bourne Scenic Highway planning debacles.
Cape Cod business owners knew it would be a rough tourism season, with the recession and an unusually rainy June keeping more people at home than normal.
But they didn't count on getting hammered by the Sagamore Bridge reconstruction project that started last month. The road work, which left just one lane open in either direction, snarled tourists and locals alike who tried to use the busier of the two bridges over the Cape Cod Canal... But the problems have left some politicians and business leaders worried: They say the damage to the Cape's economy could continue until the project is done - something that might not happen until next fall... Returning yesterday afternoon at 4:00, it looked like the 24/7 schedule was canned !! Two state troopers, a Bourne cruiser, and two laborers was all I saw. No work being done. WHAT A COUNTRY!!! There really has to be a better way; even sticking to the plan might help.
Standing by.
