Bourne Fire Department

Bourne Fire Department

by Ana Paulina

I have been around the Bourne area for several years now and today, I noticed something that is unfamiliar to me about the Bourne Fire Station located in Buzzards Bay, an unusual stillness, tucked away in complete isolation from the rest of the community.

So, I decided to pay the station a visit and hand deliver a decorative bag filled with hot chocolate boxes for the men who service our community. At first, it took some time to break the ice, but eventually the group of firefighters and I managed to get around the pain, when I explained to them that the clock fixture that sits on the front face of the building was not displaying the accurate time. Finally, a string of smiles broke out and they were all but willing to explain that the clock was in need of repair.

Conclusion: As an empathic individual, throughout my life, I have learned, words alone will not be needed during difficult times.

If I were a bit taller, that broken clock would be set at 4:20 all the time.
