Poor Deval Patrick

He blew it big time

By Walter Brooks

See and hear the editorial by Walter.

Patrick based his campaign for governor on his solo support of the Cape Wind project and blew away his rivals who were shocked to discover a wide majority
of Bay State voters supported it too.

He based his budget for growing the state's economy on making Massachusetts America's renewable energy leader only to be stopped by the redoubtable Ted Kennedy's selfish affection for his ocean view.

Then Ted passed on to his reward in whatever nether realm is reserved for such, and Deval got his golden chance to name a new US Senator.

He chose Kennedy flunky Paul Kirk who may be the only prominent Democrat left in the state who wants to stop America's first offshore wind farm here.

Who will you vote for in the Democrat Primary on Dec. 8?

Don't get me wrong - I love the Kennedys, voted for everyone who ever ran, Ted, Joe for Chávez, Booby, Nutty Patrick, the whole wacky pack of Irish Mafia because they remind me so much of myself - tarnished, debauched, immoral, self-centered and oversexed.

NY Times article today on our Senate race
4 Vie for Kennedy's Seat, but Only 3 Seek His Mantle

Ask not how the Democratic candidates to succeed Senator Edward M. Kennedy would blaze a new path: most are too busy trying to prove themselves his ideological twin as the Dec. 8 primary draws near...

But playing the Kennedy card may not be a winning strategy after all. Virtually every poll has put Martha Coakley, the state's attorney general and the candidate least inclined to invoke Senator Kennedy, far ahead of her three rivals... NY Times.

Well said. Thank God that the schmuck will be history after January's election.
I'm going to vote in the primary for Martha Coakley, the least Kennedyesque of the bunch.

Walter, it's so nice to hear your voice after so many years. But I must take issue with part of your last sentence. Many folks around Orleans way are well aware of your semi annual complaints and vice versa. I can only say that you better take it easy on the Viagra.
And Pat, I'm really happy God is a schmuck; 'God the schmuck' since I'm so fond of your husband. Happy trails...

The test of a good editor is whether he or she will lampoon their own favorites when appropriate.
Cape Cod Today and Brooks backed Deval Patrick from day one, but they are willing to call "a mistake a mistake."
(Notice how I avoided the obvious opportunity for an racial slue.)

Has this blog turned into "True Confessions"?

WB...move to RI and you can vote for "patches". Make it a grand slam. But if you do the Bishop will ex-communicate you and deny communion with your fellow sinners.

Any truth to the rumor that Pat and Walter will attend the next White House state dinner? With or without invite.

WB...your attempt at Lip-sync was a failure.
