Six hospitals plan lawsuit against the commonwealth
Cape Cod Hospital joins in legal action

Six community hospitals are set to file a lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court tomorrow morning seeking millions of dollars in payments from state government for unreimbursed health care services. The plaintiffs are part of a group of health care providers known as "disproportionate share hospitals," institutions that serve communities of low-income or older residents, where at least 63 percent of patients are covered by public insurance plans such as Medicaid or Medicare.

Their lawsuit, which names the state's secretary of health and human services as the defendant, focuses specifically on reimbursements from Medicaid, the state-administered program that pays medical care for patients who can't afford it. It charges the state has violated a law requiring adequate reimbursement for care... Globe.

Sandwich will try again on Roberti Farm

For the third time in eight years, the Town of Sandwich is soliciting bids to lease the 6.3 acres of land off Tupper Road formerly known as Roberti Farm. The selectmen have been unable to finalize a lease since the Tedeschi Corporation donated it to the town in 2001... The town accepted the land as a gift and must ensure the land is used for conservation and agricultural purposes. The property was the last dairy farm in Barnstable County... Broadsider.

Read the Town of Sandwich request for proposals here. Until the late 1970s, the farm which lies in the shadows of the Cape Cod Canal electric plant was operated by a former town selectman, J. Louis Roberti, who died earlier this year.  See a classic photo of the abandoned Roberti farm here.

Cardinal's kin, including Sen. Kirk and brother, fight BC plan to move body
Archdiocese to lose $2 million to Boston College if it fails to remove the cardinal

A photo taken in 1944 showed the gothic crypt at St. John's Seminary where the cardinal's remains were to rest, including an altar for Masses, boards covering the crypt where the casket was to be lowered, and guardian angels flanking the doors.

The strange case of Cardinal William H. O'Connell, whose remains are the subject of an unseemly tug-of-war between several of Boston's most prominent Catholic institutions and individuals, has taken another twist as the heirs of the storied prelate are asking a judge to block anyone from digging up and relocating his body.

Twenty-two members of the cardinal's sprawling family tree have signed on to a court filing objecting to what they describe as the "irreparable damage to the mortal remains of the cardinal" that would be done if two of the institutions to which O'Connell was closest in life, the Archdiocese of Boston and Boston College, succeed in disinterring his bronze casket and dismantling the mausoleum in which he was laid to rest more than six decades ago... His most prominent heir is a grandnephew, US Senator Paul G. Kirk Jr... The senator's younger brother, Edward W. Kirk, is a Cape Cod lawyer and is representing most of the heirs in court... Globe.

Developer lofts proposal for
wind turbine in Provincetown

A private developer has proposed that he be allowed to erect a 240-foot wind turbine next to the Mount Gilboa water tank. The developer, Blair Galinsky, owner and developer of a "green" condominium complex built recently in Chelsea, met with members of the Provincetown Recycling and Renewable Energy Committee last week. The 240-foot, 600-megawatt turbine would generate one million kilowatts of electricity a year, enough to power an estimated 300 homes... Ptown Banner.

County Dredge Removes Shoals In Three Bays

A joint public-private project to dredge channels in the Three Bays area wrapped up this week. Lindsey B. Counsell, executive director of Three Bays Preservation, said the Barnstable County dredge removed 15,000 cubic yards of sediment from channels extending from the entrance to Cotuit Bay to the west end of the Seapuit River.

According to a filing with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the project involved dredging a 128,775-square-foot area to a depth between 7 and 11 feet below mean low water... Mr. Counsell said the spoils were placed on the east end of Dead Neck, where they will be used to enhance shorebird habitat... Barnstable Enterprise.

New investors in Middleboro casino spurs interest in renegotiating the town's contract
Town may ask to reopen deal after tribe lands Malaysian investors

Lim Goh Tong, the founder of Genting, was once the richest man in Malaysia with net worth US$4.2billion.

With new investors on the horizon for the tribal casino planned in town, at least one public official thinks it's time to revisit the original terms of the deal hammered out more than two years ago. The Mashpee Wampanoag tribal council announced Sunday it is working with a new partner, Arkana Limited, a wholly-owned affiliate of the Kien Huat affiliates in Malaysia, collectively known as Genting.

The investment company is owned by a Lim family trust, which has cash reserves of over $3 billion. Among many financial interests, the company financed the 1992 start-up of the Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut. Kien Huat has also invested in countries around the world involved in gaming, cruise, power generation, plantations, property development, biotechnology, and oil and gas... The Enterprise.

Is this but a glimpse of things to come once National Healthcare kicks in?

Must be another 'unfunded' government mandate to cripple caregivers by their imposed edicts, then declare an emergency so the gang of corrupt legislators initiate a bailout, and eventual gang takeover.
