Unoccupied Wellfleet home destroyed by fire Thursday


   An unoccupied home on Gull Pond Road was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning.

WELLFLEET - An unoccupied home at 100 Gull Pond Road in Wellflleet was destroyed in a fire Thursday, December 3, 2009 around 10 a.m. Firefighters utilized water shuttles as there were no fire hydrants near the scene of the fire.

Mutual aid from several surrounding towns was requested to help battle the fire.

There were no reported injuries.

The captain was surrounded by foam used to put out the fire in the Wellfleet home.


   An Eastham Firefighter headed towards the home destroyed by fire in Wellfleet. Surrounding towns were called in to assist with the fire.

Thanks to the fire fighters for doing a job very few are willing to do. I look at these photos and news stories and try to see all the supporting characters such as the firefighters. I'm grateful for their dedication to duty and service to our communities.
