Another day, another storm...

Well Julianne McGrath isn't about to back down from the dysfunctional Sandwich High School Administration or the ever-scandalous Sandwich Police Department, that's for sure!  Today, the mother of Sandwich High School senior Ty McGrath has demanded her son be re-instated onto the Blue Knights Football team and be given Alumni status for the upcoming years.  Certainly putting the mighty lineman back in a Blue Knights Varsity jacket now will do little to repair the damage done to McGrath after he was pulled from the last two games of his high school career, but it's a start. Perhaps, the McGrath's should consider it punishment enough to Coach Luette that the highest scores against the Knights of the entire season were the games in which Ty McGrath was not allowed to play. Apparently, if we're to believe that Luette did indeed cover up drug issues reported to him by McGrath and the two senior captains, then Luette prefered a beating on the football field to doing his job better off the field and reporting the situation to the administration. Either way, Bill Luette appears to have no business coaching or educating Sandwich's youth!

Next . . . the Southern Tornado touches down again at Sandwich Police Station!

If Sandwich Police Officer Brian Bondarek thought he was off the hot seat when he got down from the witness stand Jan. 5th shortly before Judge O'Neill admonished him for violating Ty McGrath's civil rights, he was surely mistaken and must have felt the temperature rising today when Julianne McGrath, fueled by Judge O'Neill's Jan. 5th ruling whipped into the Sandwich Police Dept. to file a complaint against Officer Bondarek for officer misconduct. Misconduct?? Well that's putting it mildly!  First, Bondarek denies the McGraths' SEVEN demands for an attorney, then he writes McGrath's statement and tells the 18 yr old that the paper he's signing is to acknowledge his presence at the Sandwich Police station and NOT A WAIVER OF HIS RIGHTS, then lies about it all under oath! Talk about Wack! And speaking of Wack, if Chief Wack doesn't discipline Bondarek then 2012 might become known as the year of The Great Sandwich Migration, when residents flee the town to avoid having their civil rights obliterated! We're gonna have to watch Chief Wack to see how he restores the community's faith in his troubled department, but one thing is certain, Sandwich residents, including the Amarals, have Julianne McGrath to thank for making Sandwich P.D. think twice before walking all over anyone else's civil rights!

A Tale Yet To Be Told . . . .

While Mrs. McGrath has made it known that she believes her son's situation was deliberatley mishandled by Sandwich High School, neither her or her son have commented on the details of the Nov. 7th incident. Gee, I wonder why they've been so sheepish about doing that considering what Sandwich Police did to Ty McGrath the evening he was arrested! The McGrath's have denied the validity of the Amaral's claims, despite what fellow blogger Knights of Mayhem in Sandwich reports. Wisely, the McGrath's are probably waiting tell their story to people who will actually not misrepresent the truth as Officer Bondarek has done!  The Sandwich Watchdog has little doubt that that civil lawsuits are in Sandwich's future. But they just may be coming from the McGrath's against the Amarals, the Sandwich Police Department - or both! Once the McGraths do talk, we can't help but wonder if the details of that fateful Nov. 7th aren't going to be as revealing as the perjurous stain on Officer Bondarek's face Jan. 5th! Let's be honest, that stain's gonna put the Tide pen to the test!

Plea bargain??? Are you kidding??

Knights of Mayhem in Sandwich   - sorry, we don't think you're gonna see the McGraths agreeing to a plea any time soon! And we gently remind our good friends (whose blog we adore by the way!) that Mr. McGrath is innocent until proven guilty! While on-lookers in the court room on Jan. 5th overheard conversations about a possible pleading out of the charges, Ty McGrath and his mother were not having any of it! In fact, Mrs. McGrath and her son were overheard being adamant that Ty McGrath be given the opportunity to disprove the validity of the charges against him. The McGrath's seem to be looking forward to telling their side.  And although Sandwich High School and especially it's ineptly-head coached football team seem to have its issues, the likelyhood that Ty McGrath beating up the Amaral kid is one of them is quickly dwindling.

Civil Rights and Troubled Knights

The Sandwich Watchdog believes every dog will have it's day, but more importantly, the violation of a person's civil rights is not to be taken lightly.  Whether it is a hysterical 18 yr old high school student or a brave and self-less soldier as suggested by Knights of Mayhem in Sandwich, every individual must have his civil rights protected and respected. Judge O'Neill should not be mocked for acknowledging the emotional state of a high school senior in the custody of an Officer of the Law who defiantly ignored the laws he is obligated to uphold.  It was because Officer Bondarek violated Ty McGrath's civil rights and not because McGrath was crying that he granted the motion to supress Mr. McGrath's statement! Furthermore, this is no "open and shut case" as has been suggested, because if it were, Officer Bondarek would have allowed the case to be tried upon it's merits and not have manufactured them!

But shed no tears for the Prosecution, they still have those conflicting at-best witness statements! And the Sandwich Police Department has an offficer to discipline, while Sandwich High School has a head Coach to dismiss and perhaps a football player to place back on their inactive roster!
