This part of our judicial system seldom makes headlines, but many voters come in contact with this Court either personally or through a family member or a friend.

The Probate and Family Court has jurisdiction over family matters such as divorce, paternity, child support, custody, visitation, adoption, termination of parental rights, and abuse prevention. Probate matters include jurisdiction over Wills, administrations, guardianships, conservatorships and change of name. The Court also has general equity jurisdiction. The Office of the Register of Probate is responsible for assisting and guiding the public and lawyers with all of the legal paperwork for these types of sensitive, personal matters that come before the Court.

That is why you, the voter, would be best guided by a Register of Probate who is compassionate and qualified for the position. You, the voter, would be best served by an attorney who understands the challenges families face in this fast moving world we live. Anastasia Welsh Perrino is that attorney.
