Results of Mashpee Oktoberfest 10K Road Race ...

.... held Saturday over the holiday weekend and won by Geof Newton, 40, of Yarmouthport in 35: 37, a 5:44-per-mile pace. The first woman across the finish line was Mara FitzPatrick Lappin, 36, of Dedham, finishing 10th overall in a field of 92 runners with a time of 43:15, a 6:58-mile pace. Finishing first for female runners from the Cape was Sharon Panepinto, 42, of Osterville, who placed 15th overall in 46:27, running 7:29 per mile.

One of the more impressive performances on Saturday came from 15-year-old Max Darrah of Mashpee, who finished second in 36:34 and averaging a brisk 5:53 each mile. Darrah and first-place finisher Newton were the only two competitors to run under a 6-minute-mile pace for the entire course.

Follow this link to the New England Running website for a complete listing of the results, which were compiled by the Falmouth Track Club.
