The crash happened about 11:15 on Sandwich Road near the Gallo Ice Rink.
Reports say one victim. 69-year old Lilija Berents of East Falmouth was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters using two sets of the Jaws of Life worked for over a half hour to free the second victim 51-year old Anthony Troiano of East Sandwich.
Medflight helicopters were unable to fly due to electrical storms in the area so Troiano (right), who is the town manager of Hopkinton, MA, was rushed to Tobey Hospital in Wareham and later transferred to Rhode Island Hospital. State Police are investigating the crash and say they believe Troiano was trying to pass another vehicle when his car struck Berents oncoming car head on.
