Orleans fire; Hyannis rear-end collision jams Willow Street

One-room fire in Orleans
ORLEANS
- Firefighters confined a house fire to one room in Orleans late Monday afternoon. Smoke was showing from 143 Tonset Road when firefighters arrived about 6 p.m. No human injuries were reported but a kitten was killed and another seriously injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house was left uninhabitable until repairs could me made and the Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for the occupants.

yarmouth031708a_599  A Toyota Camry was heavily damaged in a rear-end collision that jammed Willow Street into Hyannis Monday.
yarmouth031708b_250HYANNIS – Willow Street in Hyannis was jammed up around 11 a.m. Monday after an elderly man headed south in a Toyota Camry rear-ended a Honda Pilot in front of the Hyannis Auto Center near Ferndoc Street. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The driver of the Honda was uninjured while the Toyota driver, checked out by Hyannis rescue personnel in the ambulance, eventually refused treatment. Hyannis police rerouted traffic around the scene until a flatbed wrecker was able to haul the damaged Toyota away. Story and photos by Kevin Morley
