Centerville crash closes Route 28; Orleans drug bust

Crash at notorious intersection closes Route 28

The driver of a rolled over pickup at Rt. 28 and Lumbert Mill Rd. is readied for transport to CCH.
CENTERVILLE
- A serious crash at a notorious intersection closed Route 28 for a little over an hour Wednesday evening. A SUV driven by Brian Way of Mashpee collided with a pickup truck driven by Andrew Little of Cotuit at Route 28 and Lumbert Mill Road about 7 p.m. The impact caused the pickup to roll on its roof. Both drivers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital. Little reportedly suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police who cited Way for operating to endanger and failing to stop at a stop sign. Way reportedly told police he hydroplaned on the wet roads. The town of Barnstable has been negotiating with the state for several years to try to get a signal light at the dangerous intersection. Story and photos by Frank Paparo.

As soon as we finish putting up our "beautiful" new street lights (it's like putting lipstick on a pig) in downtown Hyannis, we'll see if we have any money left over for public safety.

There will be no money left for public safety? The town will save overtime pay from calling in personel to handle these serious accidents. The lights will pay for themselves very quickly.Drivers slow down on Rt.28!!!Drivers don't enter roadway until clear!!!

I got my license in 1976 and lived about 1 mile from the intersection of Lumbert Mill and Route 28. I have passed that intersection 100s of time with no problems. Lights will cause even more accidents there. Maybe these people were coming home after a few too many pops at Wimpys in Osterville.

I was depressed last night so I called Lifeline.
Got a call center in Pakistan.
I told them I was suicidal.
They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
