TRURO - Two vehicles collided head on on Route 6 in Truro around 4 a.m Sunday.
The crash happened near the intersection of Prince Valley Road when a Ford Explorer collided with a Ford F150 pickup (below).
Both drivers were taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation but air bags in both vehicles likely prevented serious injury.
The impact ripped two tires from the vehicles which were strewn in the roadway along with glass and other debris.
Both vehicles wound up a distance up the road.
Beer cans could be seen on the floor of the Explorer.
Truro Police are investigating the crash and charges have been filed (see update here).

Truck blaze battled by Dennis and Harwich firefighters
A truck was gutted by fire next to the Chase & Merchant equipment building in Dennis.
DENNISPORT - A 911 call at 12:38 a.m. Sunday brought fire crews from Dennis and Harwich to a truck fire at the Chase & Merchant Company equipment yard at the end of Naushon Road in Dennisport. Parked amidst a variety of refuse and construction vehicles and next to a large steel building, the medium-sized utility dump truck with a trailer attached was fully involved when fire fighters arrived. Fighting the stubborn fire with foam driven by Engine 107's onboard water supply, firefighters laid a 4-inch line from a street hydrant to 107 to finish the job. Dennis Engine 106, Ladder 110, and Harwich Engine 69 were on scene as well. Despite the closeness to the building the fire was contained to the one vehicle and extinguished shortly after 1 a.m with no extension to the structure or other vehicles. The truck cab appeared to be totally destroyed. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Officials: presumed "Yankee fan" victim of alleged Falmouth baseball bat attack
FALMOUTH - A senseless case of violence marred 4th of July festivities in Falmouth Friday. Falmouth Police tell CWN about 10 p.m. they were called to the area of 153 Worcester Court. The initial investigation reportedly revealed several youths accosted a family in their car allegedly because they had New York plates on the car and the youths accused them of being New York Yankee fans. The family in the car was unable to move because of heavy traffic leaving the fireworks. A male victim in the car pleaded with the youths to stop because his children were in the vehicle but the attack reportedly escalated and a baseball bat was used leaving the male victim with a head injury and his car vandalized. The children were not hurt.
Officers arrested 20-year old Robert Donald Correia (pictured) of Falmouth for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property (MV). The investigation continues and additional charges and more arrests are possible. Correia is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Falmouth District Court.

Rear-end crash stymies Route 6 traffic
This Toyota 4Runner rear-ended a Kia Sportage which struck a third vehicle jamming Route 6 traffic.
SOUTH DENNIS - Around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, a three-car, rear-end, chain-reaction crash on Route 6 east just before the lane drop in South Dennis sent one to the hospital with unknown injuries. The crash occurred in the left travel lane with a Toyota 4Runner hitting a Kia Sportage, which then hit a small sedan. The sedan sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Toyota's airbags were deployed and both the Toyota and Kia were not drivable and were removed by ramp truck. Route 6 traffic eastbound was jammed up as the damaged vehicles blocked the left lane. State police are investigating the crash. Residual backups affected other roads with Route 134 at one point backed up all the way to Route 28.

Truck vs pole in Falmouth
FALMOUTH - Just after 7 p.m. Saturday evening a GMC pickup apparently slid on the wet road and crashed into a utility power pole near 428 Old Barnstable Rd in East Falmouth. The pole was snapped in two places effecting primary power and phone and cable wires. A brief power outage effected a wide area with NStar arriving to restore
power and begin repairs quickly. The driver and passenger were able to get out of the truck themselves and fortunately avoided being shocked by the downed wires. They were both uninjured and declined treatment or transport after evaluation by Falmouth Fire Rescue. Old Barnstable Road was expected to be blocked for some time while the
pole was replaced and wires restored.

Neighbor saves Hyannis house after dryer fire
HYANNIS - At 1 p.m. Saturday Hyannis Fire was called to a structure fire at 109 Compass Circle in Hyannis. A neighbor reported smoke coming from an unoccupied. Police arrived first and confirmed smoke showing from the house. Firefighters arrived and discovered the one story ranch style home filled with smoke and discovered a clothes driver ablaze in the basement. They were able to quickly put out the fire. The homeowner reportedly returned as firefighters were venting the heavy smoke that had backed up in the house. Deputy Chief Dean Melanson and another firefighter are seen at right inspecting the dryer after it was brought outside through the bulkhead. No injuries were reported.

Gas leak prompts evacuation in Dennis
DENNIS -Around 1:50 p.m. the Dennis Fire Department responded to a gas leak caused by someone digging in the area of 36 Chase Avenue in Dennisport. Several engines were been dispatched and firefighters evacuated the neighborhood around the leak in what was reported to be a 4-inch gas main. Chase Avenue was closed for about an hour until National Grid could secure the gas.

Extrication required at Dennisport smash-up
Rescuers had to remove the roof of a Saturn to free its driver after a crash in Dennis.
DENNISPORT - A Ford Explorer headed east on Route 28 apparently broadsided a Saturn sedan driven by an older woman attempting to cross the busy road from south to north on Depot Street. The force of the collision threw the Saturn into a Dodge Stratus waiting at the stop sign on the north side of Depot. Dennis firefighters used extrication tools to cut the "A" and "B" posts of the Saturn in order to peel back the roof to free the woman. She appeared to have suffered a head injury and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford was uninjured and the vehicle showed remarkably little damage. The two occupants of the Dodge at the stop sign were uninjured with the vehicle sustaining minor damages. The stretch of Route 28 between Sea Street and South Street was closed to traffic, adding further to the already massive traffic tie-ups in the area.

Don't dress as an antelope in Africa, try not to do anything deer-like during hunting season, and don't rock the Yankees gear in Massachusetts.
i take it you don't plan one heading down to broadway to take in a show anytime soon for fear of being assaulted in front of your family.
As far as the recent behavior of the yuts in Falmouth, like Stewie said,
"Get off your a$$ and do some damn parenting!"
Since you seem to have such great faith in human nature... wait til the Sox beat the yankees a good one at the Stadium, and then walk around Hell's Kitchen afterwards in a pink Boston hat... then tell me about it after your hospital stay.
Don't homophobic comments belong in the liberal thread?
Do it again and you might get banished to Poland or Nigeria or even Jamacia by that PC cop.
This comment makes you look like the total butthead that you are:
"However traumatized the children may be.... they learned a valuable life lesson.
Don't dress as an antelope in Africa, try not to do anything deer-like during hunting season, and don't rock the Yankees gear in Massachusetts."
You are an insensitive jerk! I have sent your comment to CCT in hopes that they will disable your account.
Get a life! Seriously!
More than a few of us agree--I guess you must be a newcomer. There are those who post on these blogs that can write whatever they want without so much as a warning, of course than there are those of us who write the truth, only to get ambushed because we don't belong to their own private twisted social club--a miserable group, trust me. What some people will do to stir up readership...
Thank you crusader.... thank you for showing us the way. You and Paul Pierce "The Truth".
And she's not a butt head, she's a Smurf.
Right genre, wrong cartoon. ;)
Maybe it's you & your sickos, including capemom & monpo the better than thou brigade of nastie posters--why not reveal who you are? Wouldn't that be a shocker to all those who think you are such a pro...professional slob is more like it...months of disgusting comments of McCowen...now this...maybe you would like some degenerate to beat your husbands over the head with a bat in the presence of your children? A horrific memory that will surely last for years to come. "so how was your 4th on the Cape?" "WE GOT CAR JACKED & TERRORIZED", & don't think their story will be kept in the dark, sure they will tell all family & friends. So lets wager what will happen to this mental case. Case dismissed? Suspended sentence? Take your pick of CC crooked courtsystem, who is he connected to? Mayflower crowd? Daddy got a business, daddy friends with the cops, the judge? Can't wait to see the outcome.
marco--probably one of Jeremy's thugs from the other end of the island. The men from London didn't prosecute-hope this family does. Somebody's got to teach these low lifes a lesson.
The men from London, not sure if I heard about that one. Your right about paying the bills, that is why I do not understand why all of a sudden they should bother anyone. This is not good for CC but you think this kid cares? The people in charge here are living in the past, scum like this is growing and growing like a virus."menacing, territorial",is exactly right! These morons just assume the tourist $$$$ will come, not true anymore.
Guns don't kill people, but a threatened family man with a gun sure might.
JF & co., pulled a knife on two tourists of London in Wellfleet (sometime before CW's murder) & said, "get off my turf". The two men threatened didn't return to
prosecute--I know other cases of JF's cohorts-- KL-boy he stabbed. (KL's father is a businessman, knows the cops, kids too afraid to testify), a girl punch so hard in the face, shattered checkbone & broken jaw..??outcome...got covered up? I know someone who witnessed these crimes, he was moving away, nothing could be done, outnumbered by locals who want to go along.
Welcome to the ongoing gentrification of Cape Cod. That's what this is about--not over the Yankees vs. Red Sox Nation. Maybe this punk was seathing with jealousy over this nice little family having a great 4th of July & had to spoil their vacation. Well, I'm sure he did just that, but the bigger problem is that this family was on Cape Cod when it happened, not in a broken down vehicle in a blighted urban area as Buzz, capemom & tag-alongs like to think ALL CRIMES are committed. Time to clean it up or deal with the consequences.
I don't think that all crimes are committed in "blighted urban areas". Hell, look at that poor young mother in the area of expensive homes in Truro that was killed by her garbage man. But really, should I be questioning YOU? After-all, you are the "TRUTH".
Maybe gentrification isn't the correct term--it's used for the cities, but same principal applies--the rich move in & take over. But yes, you have a large number of low income as well. Lack of sustainable jobs is the main issue, as I see it, corruption of courts & LE. If they got rid of the drugs how would the place survive? Think about it. Someone is profitting off keeping the addicts on the streets. There has to be a drug dealer at the top & those who protect him. If the CC courts put the locals away as quick as they do innocent garbage men, maybe change would come. You know why CM is serving a life term? For sleeping with the wrong white women. Find out who's children he's fathered & you will see the root of this evil prejudice.
Let's tell it like it is, shall we --Buzz. This crime proves you've got more violent local criminals harboring anger towards outsiders--JF, KL, AD, now this wacko. They hate blacks, esp.those who sleep w/ white women, tourists, & anyone who dares change their confederate R.E.LEE landscape. Sounds like it's time for civil rights activists.
marco-look at the motion filed to the court of JF & his co.: scroll down to names,conclusion)http://www.capecodtoday.com/blogs/index.php/2008/03/10/just_for_the_public_record_the_worthingt?blog=23#comments "Along these lines, Frazier’s violent knife attack on two British tourists at the Wellfleet Pier with other criminal associates was important to the defense as well. In that attack, Frazier used a weapon the same as alleged to have been used in the Worthington homicide and was a stunning example of similar criminal conduct that would have been used to impeach Frazier. This evidence was withheld from the defense by the prosecution despite its handling of the Wellfleet crime and its own dismissal of the case".
B) I have more than one of the tendencies of the Sociopath. I'm at ease with it, and I mostly keep to myself.
C) Team Monponsett, Stacey Monponsett, the Colonel, Elle the nanny, AOL, Ted from Hyannis Port, Double S, Cape Cod Today or Abdullah can not be held responsible for damages suffered by those who speak poorly of the team from those who see our writing as an/the articulation of their vision.
D) I try to keep my real name out of the mix, as my column crosses the line in almost every paragraph.
E) I get no cash from CCToday, although that's kind of my fault.
F) Taking my advice over that of my detractors will make you a better person, but my advice will save you at least one baseball-bat-beatdown.
G) No homophobia on my part.. I went to Smith, for crissakes... I just think the pink hat will get you a better beating.
Reason--Isolation, they blend in with the rest of the local riff-raff. They know the corrupt courts are easy on crime. But what they don't know is that they mainly cater to local color & those with deep pockets. Corruption breeds like scrubby pine & oak trees. Someone said, "the Cape has more than it's share of dubious characters". That most of us can agree. But then you've got people like Buzz & capemom who have had it come easy all these years & want their real estate values to keep growing. And most rely on the tourist buck, but when the local rug-rats start pummeling those who bring in the economic stability, what happens then? Maybe the Jersey shores are looking better these days? Or lakes in NH? Who needs to spend their hard earned cash in a place that allows drug addicts, sexual predators & other acts of violence to flourish? And where is the wonderful DA these days? Has he abandoned ship & set up camp in the sunshine state--his home away from the mess he's created? Sounds like the angry locals are running-a-muck. Maybe it's time for a new sherriff, what do ya think?
I just read that article and it does not surprise me at all.You could just tell something was not right with the case. How do these people sleep at night, CM needs some serious legal help from somebody in DC, ACLU?? Dunno???
I've had it easy...hmmm. Thanks cru, I worked 73 hours last week ( I know cause I just did my time sheet). Do I want my real estate value to keep growing? Of course.... so do you. How many times have you told us of your house here on the Cape and what it's worth. However, if your interested in stopping the gentrification, why don't you sell it to someone less fortunate for what you paid for it. Forget market value and do the right thing. In other words, why don't you put your money where your mouth is for once? Come on cru, I know plenty of real estate agents that will help you out. You are such a phony.
In error, I wrote JF's knife incident took place before Christa's murder--it was in fact AFTER--in 2003. Date is listed on the motion presented by BG. In some ways--that's even worse! They knew he was at the trial and a person of interest, and yet they let him off the hook again!...unreal.
So I'll strike the "stunning example of similar criminal conduct " and replace it with "They knew he was at the trial and a person of interest, and yet they let him off the hook" Got it..... please keep us informed with any new revisions.
Not for the boards and I won't give you the satisfaction, but I am far from being a wealthy real estate tycoon. You and your high nose snobs on Cape Cod have yours and just continue to bury your sh!t-for-brains in the sand.
Thank God for people like Marcopolo who know the real truth about that place and are not afraid to speak out.
Marco, I only wished I met more people like you when I was trapped on the island for 6 long years. I realize I made my own choices, but if I knew what I know now about that place,I would have never invested my time or money there. Now I have to pay for my own stupidity. I think it's up to the Chamber and media to tell people what they can expect on Cape Cod. That way, it's all on them. That's not what they do--and you know it. It's false advertising, fraudulent and negligent businesses who only care about their own preservation. I guess you can't blame them, but I don't know how they can live with themselves either at the end of the day. It's just an illusion. And when you finally wake up--it's like you've been hijacked.
Why don't you answer the simple question or STFU. Would you sell your cape house for a loss to someone less fortunate if your sooooo worried about the future of the Cape? Yes or no?
This is a great place, but like all over, it has so many problems now.People need to look around...the $$$ is not around, public works, schools ect ect are gonna go belly up, look at yarmouth where they just "blame all the old people" that is such crap, 26,000 in the town 4,000 and change show up to vote, good luck with that, what were the others doing, if you are out their and live in yarmouth and did not vote, I would love to hear why not?See, that community was exposed for not being a community at all, again, renters and drifters are running the show
You may have an audience with cru. But why don't you state some factual information? The tax rate and working capital in any town on or off cape is the highest percentage it's ever been. Show me where throwing more money at a problem has ever worked? "renters and drifters are running the show" what the hell does that even mean?
Shame on you. What part of cru's constant battering of CC don't you get? She just wrote of the horrendous crime that took place in Falmouth the other night.
Funny though, she never mentions what happens in Somerville. Oh, here's one: "Police are on the hunt for a MS-13 gang member who allegedly gunned down a 16-year-old Somerville boy in a drive-by shooting at the intersection of Cross and Pearl streets Thursday evening."
MS-13 sounds like such a nice group of guys. Maybe we can see if they'll open a chapter here on CC.
