CWN team coverage by Jake O'Callaghan and Kevin Morley

ORLEANS
- A fishing boat reportedly began taking on water off Rock Harbor. Nine people were on board the sport fisher Columbia seen at far right in the above photo. A Coast Guard cutter and Orleans fire boat are seen alongside. The vessel was escorted safely into Rock Harbor as more squally weather was moving in. Everyone onboard was reported to be uninjured. It is not clear what caused the vessel to start sinking.

Missing 11-year-old boy found safe

Rescuers and civilians search for a missing 11-year old boy off Brewster.
BREWSTER - A desperate search for a missing 11-year-old boy off Breakwater Beach ended happily after a frantic two hours Thursday. Fire and rescue units from Brewster, Orleans, and Dennis along with the Mass Environmental Police and a Coast Guard helicopter searched for 11-year- old Jack Hensley on the Brewster flats,  part of Cape Cod Bay that retreats several miles at low tide. He was found at the Sea Street beach off 6A in East Dennis where he had drifted on his boogie board. At right: Jack is united with his relieved mother and sister.

Bank robbery in Hyannis

Police surround the Rockland Trust Bank on Route 28 after a robbery was reported.
HYANNIS - The Rockland Trust Bank on Iyannough Road (Route 28) in Hyannis was robbed around 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning. Barnstable Police responded and surrounded the area after reports that an armed man had robbed the bank. The man reportedly passed a note to a teller but no weapon was shown. Police with K-9 dogs searched the area for a white male described as being in his 30s to around 40, who was last seen wearing sunglasses, a light colored shirt, dark colored shorts and a baseball cap. A discarded hat that may have been the one in question was discovered across the street and taken as possible evidence. The dog tracked over to the Pufferbellies and Transportation Center area but no suspect had been found as of press time.

The original headline read as I quoted above. CCtoday was alerted to the error and made a correction.
I was aware of the details.

Question: Should anyone in this story get a slap on the wrist? Mother? Kid? Or chalk it up to experience? All those people dropped everything to look for the child, who apparently was perfectly fine, just distracted. Do rescuers just breathe a sigh of relief and go on to the next call? I'm glad there was a happy ending and the child is OK!

I'm guessing book, you may be unfamiliar with the bay area. It wasn't as though the youngtser was just down the beach a bit. He was considerably further than that..... Luckliy the boy had the presence of mind to stay with his board-which depending upon the circumstances (which I don't know) could have helped the outcome be this and not a tragic one. KUDOS to all the people involved in the search-and like you, I am glad that this had a happy ending.

From the look on the kid's face, Book, he's learned his lesson. Now wouldn't it have been nice if sis gave him her towel? He looks kinda cold too...

I can tell you how the family feels being I am his father. We are very grateful for all the help from all the people, civilians, fire & rescue, police, coast guard, and the enviromental officers especially the one how found him. The trip from Ct to the Cape was hell for me until I recieved the call that he was found. The true story is my son is near sigted and wasn't wearing his glasses. Jack was unaware of the angle at which he had walked out onto the flats so when he turn to come back to the beach he was already down the beach from the cottage. Being 11 and not familiar with the beach he missed judged his location. I hugged my kids and had dinner with all of them last night. I told my son I was going to take him to the vet and get him one of those implanted tracking devices that they put it dogs or a lo-jack. There were tears of joy and some joking after it was all over. I personally went to the Brewster police station last night on my way back to Ct to thank the police for finding my son. Once again my family is very greatful to all who helped.
