Mills motorcycle crash; Centerville crash; Two injured during Cotuit fight; Reported armed robbery in Yarmouth; Truck vs. car on 134 in Dennis sends two to the hospital

New overnight: car vs pole in Hyannis
HYANNIS - A car vs pole crash in Hyannis closed down a major road and knocked out power. The crash happened shortly before 1 a.m. on Phinney's Lane at Midway Drive. Live wires came down and sparked a small fire in the trees. NStar had to temporarily cut power to a large section of Hyannis until they could isolate the scene. The driver was treated at the scene. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash. Motorists may experience delays along Phinney's Lane well into the morning.

Pickup vs motorcycle in Marstons Mills
MARSTONS MILLS - A motorcycle operator suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries after colliding with a pickup truck in Marstons Mills Tuesday evening. The crash happened on Race Lane at the intersection of Trotters Lane around 6:40 p.m. Barnstable Police are investigating the crash.

Several injured, Route 28 closed after Centerville crash

     Three vehicles collided on Route 28 in Centerville Tuesday afternoon.
CENTERVILLE - Several people were injured and Route 28 was closed for a time after a multi-vehicle crash shortly after 5 p.m. The crash happened on Route 28 at Osterville/West Barnstable Road. A Ford Taurus, Toyota Tercel and Honda Odyssey van collided. Five people including some children were taken to hospitals, some with serious but not life-threatening injuries.  Four others were treated at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police.

Fight leaves two injured in Cotuit

    Police, including a K-9 officer and rescuers, arrive on the scene of a fight in Cotuit.
COTUIT - Tensions apparently boiled over during an argument in one Cotuit neighborhood. Officials responding to a Sandlewood Drive residence reportedly found one person suffering from a head wound. A second person was discovered with a wound reportedly from a pellet gun. The incident apparently began around the corner on Curlew Way. A large number of Barnstable Police (right) descended upon the scene to investigate. Both victims were taken to Falmouth Hospital with injuries not considered  life-threatening. Barnstable Police are investigating the incident and we'll bring you further details as we get them.

Fire doused in Falmouth
FALMOUTH - A sharp-eyed passerby may have prevented a major blaze in Falmouth Tuesday evening. Firefighters responded to the 500 block of Teaticket Highway (Route 28) around 7:15 p.m. to find a small fire in a storage building reportedly on the grounds of Falmouth Lumber. They were able to quickly contain the fire. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.

Van vs car in Barnstable
BARNSTABLE - At 1 p.m. Tuesday Barnstable Police and Fire were called to a van vs car crash on Independence Drive at Communications Way. An Acme Glass van was apparently turning into Communications Way and collided with a small red sedan. One person from the sedan was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with an arm injury. Traffic was tied up until the wreckage was cleared. Barnstable Police are investigating.

Yarmouth Police investigating reported armed robbery
YARMOUTH - Yarmouth Police are investigating a reported armed robbery early Tuesday morning. A victim reported that she was sitting in her car by the Reebok Store on Route 28. The victim reportedly told police two males approached her vehicle and one of them allegedly showed a gun. Police used K-9 dogs to track the suspect but had not caught anyone as of press time. We'll bring you further details as we get them.

Dennis truck vs. car on Route 134 sends two to the hospital

   Medics prep the first victim.  Both the driver and passenger were taken to Cape Cod Hospital.

SOUTH DENNIS – Shortly after noon on Tuesday, an American Automobile Association (AAA) Ford F-150 service truck headed south on Route 134 turned in front of and struck a Toyota Corolla headed north. The collision occurred at the entrance to the headquarters of Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands.

Both airbags in the Toyota deployed and the two female occupants were transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Dennis rescue with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening. The driver of the AAA truck was not injured.  On the right, medics move the second victim, the passenger in the Toyota.

Traffic on 134 was reduced to one lane and backed up in both directions until the scene was cleared.

Brewster hosts 30th Annual Brew Run
BREWSTER - On Saturday the Town of Brewster will be hosting the 30th Annual Brew Run. The Brew Run is a 5.2 mile road race beginning and ending at the Woodshed, located on Route 6A near Route 124.

Just prior to the 4:00 p.m. kickoff, "The Singing Trooper," Dan Clark will perform a tribute to America. There will also be a 60' American Flag being unfurled. The opening ceremonies are a tribute to all our fallen servicemen, fire fighters, and police officers, and will conclude with a fly-over by the U.S. Coast Guard helicopter. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Brewster Rescue Squad.

Traffic delays should be expected on Route 6A, Route 124, Route 137, Tubman Road, and Lower Road between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  Motorists should seek alternate routes if possible.

There will be special event parking at the Eddy Elementary School on Rt. 6A.  Shuttle buses will be running from 2:30 to 3:45 to bring runners to the start line.
