Peter’s Birds

This Sunny Easter morning, I searched and I searched but I could not find
That Great Bird who sat in Lover’s Lake, it just bogged my mind
I knew if Peter was here, he’d immediately know
That breathtaking shallow water species that was stealing the show
We were told on Monday, that our friend, Peter, took sick
My, Oh My, we prayed to God his wonderful heart would so tick
In tribute to Peter and his coming home
We now know more about birds, their migration and how they do roam
In understanding bird basics, they include a bill, a lore and a crest
They are bird-house masters whether building a cup, platform or ground nest
The female they tell us works hard to construct their homeplace
Using her body to form the egg chamber in time for her hatching race
Bird-migration is simple, they look for areas of high concentration food
Their ebb and flow behavior could lead to ‘an under the stairs’ jolly good mood
Peter tells us during his visits all about the Bird World
Vivid blue, lemon yellows, or intense reds attract females to ‘Let’s give it a swirl’
We also know that each bird molts and replaces their feathers with new
Over 460 birds in Massachusetts alone, without ‘Our Peter’, what’s a person to do?
We’ve taken this week to calmly wait for Linda to bring Peter home
By bird watching, often called ‘birding’ and enjoying each fine specie roam
We’re ready for Peter to tell him all we now know
As he bed-rests for us to visit to keep his ‘good spirits’ in fine tow
I keep looking to see if it’s a finch, loon, mallard or beautiful morning Dove
Please hurry, Peter, get well our good friend, we give you our love
I see out the window…..is it an Egret or Great Blue Heron, I still do not know
Peter, please come down soon and continue your great Lover’s Lake Bird Show
What a special Easter day for our joint families to see
Beautiful birds everywhere, nature nestled around Peter for him to calmly be
Peter and Linda….you’re both wonderful neighbors, we’re glad you are there
For more good times to come and a special friendship to share
