The Harwich Democratic Town Committee will host their 14th annual Presidents' Day Brunch on Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Land Ho! Restaurant, 429 Route 28 in Harwichport.
Tickets for the popular event are $20.
This year's guest speaker is Steve Grossman, State Treasurer and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
The recipients of two special honors, Joseph McParland, winner of the Mabel Canto Democrat of the Year Award, and John E. O'Brien, winner of the James Noonan Community Service Award, will be recognized at the event.

Barnstable Democratic Town Committee to hold caucus February 11
All registered Barnstable Democrats are eligible to participate
The Barnstable Democratic Town Committee has announced that they will hold a caucus on Saturday, February 11 at 10 a.m. at the West Barnstable Community Building, 2377 Meeting House Way (Route 149) in West Barnstable.
During the caucus, Democratic Convention delegates will be selected. All registered Barnstable Democrats (registered as of 12/31/11) are eligible to participate.
The Barnstable DTC will nominate twenty-two delegates and four alternates to attend the Democratic Convention in Springfield on June 2. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women. Anyone not elected as a delegate or alternate, may apply to the add-on delegates in the categories of youth, minority or disabled, if qualified.
Doors open at 9 a.m. and will be closed promptly at 10 a.m., at which time no one will be allowed to enter.

Tom Keyes meet and greet February 4th in Bourne
Keyes continues bid for Therese Murray's seat
The Committee to Elect Tom Keyes announced that they will host a meet and greet with their candidate on Monday, February 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Trowbridge Tavern Canal Room, 100 Trowbridge Road in Bourne.
Meet Tom Keyes, Republican candidate for State Senate, Plymouth & Barnstable District--the seat currently held by State Senate President Therese Murray.
The evening will feature music by Andrew Botieri, a silent auction and Captain Bob's famous fish chowder. All donations will be accepted.

League of Women Voters to host "Don't Just Stand There...Run" Forum in Harwich
Group to repeat successful political campaign "how-to" on February 15
The League of Women Voters of the Cape Cod area announced that they will once again host their "Don't Just Stand There...Run" training forum for citizens considering a run for political office.
The forum will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 7 p.m. at the Harwich Community Center, 100 Oak Street in Harwich.
The knowledgeable panel of presenters includes:
- Sarah Peake, State Representative, 4th Barnstable District
- Linda Hutchenrider, Barnstable Town Clerk
- David Schropfer, Eastham Moderator and former Selectman
- Mary LeClaire, former County Commissioner
- Sean Gonsalves, Columnist, Cape Cod Times
Presenters will answer questions from the audience and offer insight into what makes a campaign successful.

Falmouth Democratic Town Committee announces two February events
Caucus to be held on February 11, brunch to be held on February 25

The Falmouth Democratic Town Committee has announced two important events in February. First up, on Saturday, February 11 at 10 a.m., the Falmouth DTC will hold a caucus to elect delegates to the Massachusetts Democratic Party's 2012 nominating convention. The caucus will take place at the Morse Pond School, 323 Jones Road in Falmouth. All
residents of Falmouth who are registered Democrats are eligible to participate.
The Falmouth Democratic Caucus will elect 21 delegates and four alternates to the Massachusetts Democratic Convention to be held in Springfield on June 2. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women. Anyone not elected as a delegate or alternate, may apply to the add-on delegates in the categories of youth, minority or disabled, if qualified.
Two weeks after the caucus, on Saturday, February 25, the Falmouth DTC is hosting a brunch at the Coonamessett Inn at 9:30 a.m. Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray and Congressman Bill Keating will be the special guests.
RSVPs are requested by Monday, February 20, 2012. Tickets are $22 per person and checks must be made payable to FDTC and mailed to PO Box 312, Falmouth, MA 02541.
The Coonamessett Inn is at 311 Gifford Street in Falmouth.

Occupy Cape Cod to participate in several local events this weekend
A stand-out, an encampment and lots of information
The organizers of Occupy Cape Cod have announce several events over this coming weekend (January 27-29). Occupy Cape Cod members will be sponsoring the following gatherings across the Cape:
Friday, January 27, 2012
- Occupy Cape Cod members, joined by a group of Boston Occupiers, will establish a tent encampment on the grounds of the Calvary Baptist Church, 25 Lincoln Road (at West Main Street) in Hyannis.
Saturday, January 28, 2012
- Protest/Stand-Out from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in front of Bank of America on Barnstable Road in Hyannis. Members of several Occupy groups including Eastham, Falmouth, Orleans, Wellfleet, Provincetown and Boston will join the members of Occupy Hyannis for the event. "Octopi Cape Cod" street theater featuring a theatrical octopus will be performed by Cape Cod Move to Amend and Occupy Cape Cod in the Bank of America parking lot during the stand-out.

- A soup lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Grass Ross, a Worcester activist and former candidate for governor will speak. Ms. Ross is the author of "Main St. $marts" and is considered by many to be the expert on foreclosure in Massachusetts.
- Occupy Falmouth members Peter Waasdorp and Paul Rifkin will discuss their group's development, goals and mission statement from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church.
- David Agnew and Sara Thacher will discuss the dangers of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The camp out will take place Saturday evening.
Anyone interested in participating is welcome to come and learn about Occupy Cape Cod and their work for social and economic justice.

Rep. Cleon Turner announces Friday on Cape office hours
Office hours scheduled for two Fridays a month, four different locations
Representative Cleon Turner (D-Dennis) has announced his 2012 on Cape office hours. All of Rep. Turner's constituents in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis and Brewster are encouraged to take advantage of the following times:
On the second Friday of each month, Rep. Turner will be available to constituents at 9 a.m. at the YMCA of Cape Cod, 2245 Iyannough Road, West Barnstable and at 11 a.m. at the Yarmouth Senior Center, 528 Forest Road, West Yarmouth.
On the third Friday of each month, Rep. Turner will be available to constituents at 9 a.m. at the Dennis Senior Center, 1045 Route 134, South Dennis and at 11 a.m. at the Brewster Council on Aging, 1673 Main Street, Brewster.
Constituents are welcome at any of the four locations regardless of their address and do not need to wait for the office hours scheduled in their town.

Speak-out for economic justice this Saturday in Falmouth
An Occupy Falmouth and Coalition for Social Justice event

A speak-out for economic justice will be held on Saturday, January 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Falmouth Public Library. The event which is sponsored by Occupy Falmouth and the Coalition for Social Justice, will bring attention to the economic issues of the 99% on Cape Cod.
During the event, hear from speakers on a variety of important issues affecting the lives of Cape Codders including affordable housing, foreclosures, healthcare, veterans' issues, senior issues, environmental justice and unemployment. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to speak-out on issues important to them.
The speak-out will be followed by a march down Main Street in Falmouth from the library to the Congregational Church for a luncheon. The luncheon is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.
The Falmouth Public Library is at 300 Main Street in Falmouth.

Dennis Democratic Town Committee meeting to be held January 16
Town historian to speak
The next Dennis Democratic Town Committee meeting will be held on Monday, January 16 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Dennis Police Station on Bob Crowell Road in South Dennis.
Burt Derick, Dennis historian and public servant, will lead an interesting discussion about the historic political environment of Dennis and other historic anecdotes.
All are welcome to attend.
State Senate President Therese Murray to speak at Sandwich Democratic Town Committee Meeting January 16
Bob Isadore to speak as well
The Sandwich Democratic Town Committee has announced that their next meeting will be held on Monday, January 16 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Sandwich Housing Authority on Tom's Way (off Cotuit Road) in Sandwich.
State Senate President Therese Murray will speak at 7:30 p.m., followed by Bob Isadore, the President of the Cape and Islands Democratic Council who will speak at 7:45 p.m.
