Chris Gabrieli announces his supports Cape wind farm

Two Democrats down, one to go
Tom Reilly only one left twisting in the wind

Click Chris to see videoWith gas prices about to jump another 20-30 cents a gallon and the Democratic primary just six weeks away, another Democratic gubernatorial candidate is making the Cape Wind project a key issue in his statewide campaign.

That leaves only former Democratic front-runner Tom Reilly, Independent Chris Mihos and Republican Kerry Healey not in favor of a renewable energy project which has captured the American consumer's mind.

Ironically Gabrieli made his announcement on the same day that the Alaskan pipeline was closed by British Petroleum due to corrosion. BP supplies 20% of America's oil.

Chris Gabrieli is a Boston venture capitalist who was the Democratic candidate for Lt. Governor four years ago.

His television ad endorsing the contentious Nantucket Sound Cape Wind farm project can be seen here.

While Gabrieli had previously expressed conditional support for the plan, he is now unequivocal in his support for Cape Wind in this 30-second spot that began running on Boston and Springfield television stations yesterday.

Personally, I'm more impressed by the candidate who researched the Cape Wind issue and declared for it before it was fashionable (or at least, an increasingly popular) thing to do.

Our next governor, I hope.

On Gabrieli’s unequivocal support for Cape Wind

I find it fascinating that the national news has picked up the story.

Where else but Nantucket would such a wealthy NIMBY blockade of the most benign source of pollution free electricity be of the nation’s interest.

At the risk of contradicting Chuck Kleekamp, the National Press has completely ignored Gabrieli's endorsement.
In fact, a search using his name on http://news.google.com (sorted by date) will reveal that only this newspaper and the Cape Cod Times has reported the fact as of 5:55pm today, August 8.

BP may well supply 20% of U.S. petroleum (or not, I don't know), but the article implies that 20% of our entire oil supply comes from Alaska. It is 20% of the crude used for gasoline refineries in California.
