Why Congressman Delahunt does not deserve to be re-elected

Dear Editor:

We are a nation of over 150 million people with intelligence enough to possess a driver's license. That represents quite a wealth of nation imagination for innovation.

Where then does some of these grand schemes that affect our lives come from? No evidence that it comes from the people.

In the past year I have written to Congressman Delahunt on the following topics:

  1. Gas stamps, on a program similar to food stamps.
  2. Allow consumers to pay ahead on mortages and credit cards.
  3. Support Congressman Frank in decrimilization of marijuana.
  4. License plate reform.
  5. Federal funding of VA medical van.

Some of these topics I've brought before Congressman Delahunt more than once, but Congressman Delahunt has NEVER once responded to ANY of these topics.

It's been said by many that Congressman Delahunt is out of touch with his constituents.

I'll go that charge one better and say Congressman Delahunt IGNORES his constituents and even though he is running unopposed for re-election, Congressman Delahunt does not deserve to be re-elected!

Sincerely,

Robert F. Brown
Orleans, MA

As a former columnist for the other CCT, an editorial contributor for the Providence Journal, and writer for this cct, I once sent an e-mail to a bunch of legislators just to see if they responded.

The two opposites were Delahunt and Ted Kennedy. Delahunt (or his buddy Forest) did not deign to respond. Shame on him--and I'm helping to pay his salary.

Ted Kennedy's staff, on the other hand, not only responded but put me on the mailing list for all legislative actions with which he was involved.

Kudos to Kennedy. Delahunt? I want my money back to the extent to which I've paid his salary.

I've gotten responses to email types of things. I do agree with Solon that agree or disagree with EMK, the staff is very responsive and effective.

This is a serious problem. I have gotten nowhere with senators Kerry OR Kennedy. Congressman Delahunt is the worst, indeed. I met him in HiAnus last Feb. 29. He was v. pleasant and promised to get back to me. He never did. Sen. Kerry, at the same veterans' function, said to my face he would get back to me. I said, "You--I want to hear from you--not someone from your staff." He said, "You will hear from me." (I told him he stole my place at Yale, ha ha.) Three weeks later, a member of his staff called me. I gave her a piece of my mind which she will never forget. Nuff said, I rest my case.

As a CT native, I can assure everyone, it's no better in the unconstitution state. Sama-thing, the big ring-around-the-rosie. Can U say LieberMouth? Doddo Bird? SubRosa DeLauro? Don't forget Rowland and Rell!?! (Relland carries baggage for Rowl, trust it.)
