Every kid on Cape Cod ends up playing tour guide sometimes.
To announce the release of his new book, Tours of Cape Cod, CapeCodToday blogger and Chatham author Andy Buckley has teamed up with Cape Cod Today to create an online video contest for any student who goes to school on the Cape.
That's kindergarten up to a senior in high school. Two dozen prizes
will be awarded, including three grand prizes of a $250 gift card to
Best Buy, and for the grade 9 -12 winner, a chance to get a summer internship working at CapeCodToday.com.

Andy's book, published by Schiffer Books, is due to be released in May 2008 and features 6 excursion trips with 214 photos.

Tours of Cape Cod /CapeCodToday video contest rules:
- Any student attending school in grades K-12 on Cape Cod is eligible to enter, excluding relatives of any
CapeCodToday employee or the contest judges. - There are three categories for entry: grades K-4 , 5-8, and 9-12.
- Subject for your video should be your favorite place or thing to do on Cape Cod and why you like it.
- Length of the video should not exceed 2 minutes.
- There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners within each category, as well as honorable mentions. The 1st place winner in each category will win a $250 gift card to Best Buy. The prizes for other winners TBA.
The deadline for entry is Monday, June 16th!
- There will be 8 finalists in each category, which will be announced Monday, June 23rd.
- Winners will be announced on July 4th.
- The judges are the following CapeCodToday bloggers who are photography and video professionals: Andy Buckley, Christopher Seufert, and Jul3ia Richard.
Criteria used for determining the winners include the following:
- Originality of subject matter
- Originality of presentation
- Quality of photography, narrative, and editing
- Sense of humor/entertainment value
- YouTube Views/Ratings
Remember, your video must be informative and entertaining to someone visiting Cape Cod who wants to learn about something "off the beaten path" to see or do.
You as the videographer can be in your video or not; it's your choice. Younger kids, you may need a grownup's help with editing.
In your video, you may state your first name and what town you live in or what school you go to.
Videos in which you use your last name or any personal contact information will be disqualified.
Videos which contain copyrighted material, profane language, obscene or illegal content will be disqualified.
How to enter:
- After logging in to your YouTube account, go to our YouTube group, Tours of Cape Cod.
- Click "Join this Group."
- Click "Add a Video" and upload your video.
Your video must be approved by admins before it is publicly viewable. This process will take no more than 1 day.
By submitting your video to this group, you are granting eCape, Inc., which operates CapeCodToday.com, a 10-year, non-exclusive license to use your video on any of its portal web sites. This means that you retain the copyright to your video and may use it as you like, but that you are allowing eCape, Inc., to use your video on its websites as content for no charge. You will credited by eCape providing a link to your YouTube account in the context of the use of your video.
