How about a fact check: In the fall of 2005, Congress stopped the "earmark" for the bridge project but left it up to Alaska to decide which other transportation projects to spend it on. ie. Alaska was no longer required to build the bridge. Alaska got the money and spent it elsewhere so Sarah Palin didn't exactly say "thanks but no thanks" to Congress - Makes a good line in her speech but that's about it.

Gasoline
Will be free, will be free
Gasoline
Will be free, will be free

You got the farms in Argentina
Making fuel from sugar cane
You got the b@stards in Washington
Afraid of popping the greed vain
Cause the money's in the pipeline
And pipeline's running dry
And we'll be the last to recognize
Where there's shit there's always flies...."Detours"..Sheryl Crow

Obama should invite Sheryl to perform at his next speech...."gasoline will be free..yeah,yeah,yeah"....

neddy, heard Sheryl Crow's "members only"?LOL.check out last verse:

Uncle Larry's hooked on ice again
He seems to be stuck in the 80's
He wears his members only jacket
Cause he thinks it turns on all the ladies..And all the white folks shake their asses..Looking for the two and four..I'll have mine in martini glasses
Cause I can't take it anymore..
These are the days of empty kitchens
The rise and fall of Mary Ellen's hairdo
I think she's found a new religion
Studying the Kabalah in her J.Crew..
And all the rich kids shake their asses
Looking for the two and four
Well I'll have mine with Blackstrap molasses.Cause I can't taste it anymore
No I can't taste it anymore. My friend Gregg says it's all good As the eastern seaboard's blown away Now everything is going half-price So look at all the money we've saved. And all the politicians shake their asses
Looking for the backdoor
I'll just be hanging out with the lasses
Cause they don't like the boys no more
No and I can't take it anymore.her latest,"Gasoline" rocks!..I didn't like her so called "hits" as much as underground.

Yes, bitter, they have made it abundantly clear--McCain/Palin ticket is another 8 long agonizing years for the shrinking middle-class and scrambling poor. They want to keep their war planes in the air. War makes money and lots of it. It's not enough they have sold out this country to China with the trillion dollar deficit, outsourced all our jobs, closed factories. The internet has been good and bad. A corporation can do business anywhere across the globe via cyberspace, so why not go to an impoverished country and grab more slaves to do the jobs Americans once did?

I wish you and Neddy could have been there last night. It's what some of us needed, to mobilize and get involved. Sure Cambridge/Somerville is an easy win for Obama, but I don't trust the rep. party. They don't want to lose. They just want to keep the New World Power alive and churning. We have to get out and ensure this election is run fairly. Obama has come a long way in this campaign. We can't stop now. Don't listen to the media. They will do anything to stop Obama from winning this election.

You know, I know it's politics, but I read an article about Palin's speech...how it was written by one of W's speech writers. It was written before McCain even picked Palin, and the 2 important themes for the VP were to be.."service to country ahead of career",and "must represent middle America". Then, after McCain picked Palin, they added her personality and history, and there you have it... Made to order VP.
09/11/08 @ 8:18 am
Hey jacka$$,

Obama beat Hillary. Mcshame is an easy sweep.
09/11/08 @ 8:17 am
I hate being asleep at the wheel, but I'm quite sure that Obama does not need to defend his record on Katrina- http://thinkonthesethings.wordpress.com/2007/08/29/when-the-cameras-are-off-barack-obamas-hurricane-katrina-record/

And I think it's well known that Palin was for the bridge until it became known that there was an outcry against it, and that Alaska would have to actually spend some money on the project. Clear as a bell.

Now it should be acknowledged that McCain never supports earmarks. How he picks the Governor that requests more per capita in earmarks is amusing. Could be the influence of all the former lobbyists in his campaign? It's not like McCain hasn't sold out on any number of things since his loss in 2000.
09/11/08 @ 8:17 am
Nixon was not half as bad as this bunch.
09/11/08 @ 8:02 am
Reminds me of film critic Pauline Kael saying she was stunned when McGovern lost because everyone she knew hated Nixon

Bitter, Neddy,

Had a blast! Met some cool dudes. Man to my left, a Harvard grad student who is studying quantam physics. We discussed terminal velocity vs. matter vs. bullets shot in the air...while drinking amber ale....man to the right, musician who I interviewed for my next blog....you won't believe.. he lives on the Cape! LOL..even if I try I'm destined to be always connected no matter where I'll be....details to follow with photos this evening...place was packed! McCain has a snowball's chance! People are passionate about this election and so sick of the criminal enterprise!
09/11/08 @ 6:48 am
The third-party candidates were at the press Club yesterday, and you know....they are worth considering too. Cause I still think Obama, McCain are globalists, corporatists, and owned by AIPAC. Will either of them really change anything?? But then again third-parties will never get in, so it's Obama or Mccain.....whoever schemed this up sucks. But what can you do? Go Obama...and can't wait to hear crusader!!!

maverick sounds like he's gonna vote for 'John and Sarah'. How on Earth do we hope to tell guys like this that 'honor' leads straight to Armageddon? And that Armageddon may in retrospect may turn out not to've been such a hot idea?
09/10/08 @ 8:12 pm
Neddy,

I'm in! The place is packed! Wall to wall at Johnny D's Somerville. Obama fundraiser for those of you just tuning in. The band is about to begin. Go Obama!

Hey bitter, read the story from the link. No surprises there, who is sleeping with the govt.? Really sleeping with the govt! I'll be sure to show it to my wallstreet tracker at work,a great guy, but we debate too... He says no good guys... Only bums...he teases me about dems I give it back about rep. War Hogs...all healthy debates not like here!
09/10/08 @ 6:57 pm
I don't know, and I don't know who screwing who in Cape Cod politics either. All I know is there's starting to be a light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel that has been the Republican rule of this country. The claws are coming off the neck, if you know what I mean, and I've been afraid to hope for it.
Still afraid to hope for it, but going to do everything in my power to make it happen. If my kid can get excited about politics, then what the hell, I should too!

09/10/08 @ 6:40 pm
bitter...the MMS is reviewing Cape Wind.

Might the same things be going on?

John and Sarah will put an end to it.

Have a good evening.

Time to go pledge my civic duty...and show my support for the OBAMA - BIDEN ticket.

Let's hope we can get that American Dream back, hey Neddy....so far it's been nothing but a FREAKIN' NIGHTMARE!

Hey, I'll leave you with this one:

I heard today that the ENRON lawyers just got their cut....take a guess...I guessed about 50 mil....think again....total figure was 600 MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE LAWYERS WHO REPRESENTED ENRON....so they could file for bankruptcy and those who planned on their hefty retirements got paid, don't know how much, but it came out of selling off ENRON ASSETS, not the money...so stick that in your McCain - Palin takeover from Bush - Cheney...criminal enterprise...see ya...wouldn't wanna be ya....

09/10/08 @ 5:34 pm
Senator Leahy said that if Mccain and Palin get in, it will be after our lifetimes before we have an even Supreme Court again. McCain will appoint such arch-conservatives that the little guy will never stand a chance.
Real gal-of-the-people eh?
And McDermott has joined Kucinich in calling for Bush's impeachment.
Thank God!!!....maybe this nightmare is really truly over. not hoping too hard though...don't want to jinx it.
And my 14 yr.old daughter has an Obama pin on her bag.....I think today I will join her. Obama 08!
09/10/08 @ 5:29 pm
Katrina was on Bush's clock btw. He's the only one you should blame for what happened to the people who were sent packing to Texas and lost their homes.

Like I said, at least the democratic presidents don't get caught with their pants down in the men's room with young men.

Maybe that is their problem? But you guys think that the democrat's are the only sexual promiscuous and or deviants.......LOL! Maybe if they laid off the booze and shotguns for awhile they wouldn't have so many hangups.
09/10/08 @ 5:25 pm
Yes, possee. I have to agree, but I'm going to Johnny D's to support Obama/Biden. Did you know that Biden backs the police and fire fighters of this nation? I would think that would make a difference to the yahoos, guess not.

You know, it's like this: Which is the worse of two evils, as the saying goes....I'm always going to vote the Democratic ticket, as long as I like who is running. I use to register as an independent, but that was before I realized that most republicans were never going to help the middle class or poor. So here I am, the socialist-democratic-communist queen! And I love it! Rather be there than with the republican war moguls.

Did you know that LBJ had a urinal in his office....it was his sink. Gotta love those Texans, they are just as crazy as those Alaskans.

So who will you be voting for, Possee?

Maverick,

I don't Walter pays attention anymore, that's why it's not so much fun here. At least in the old days, he'd show some interest in his bloggers, now all we got is twinkies....blahhhhkkkkkk
09/10/08 @ 4:18 pm
crusader

The hypocracy from both sides is ridiculous..
just as the mudslinging goes..
I find it amusing (the silence) when the Dems have the same argument thrown at them regarding voting records..
hey all is fair game in politics.

I am enjoying the battle from both sides.

It will continue to escalate while we still pay the bill..ehh?
09/10/08 @ 4:11 pm

We can match yours for ours...who's got dirt on who.

Rather have Obama and Biden anyday.

Palin and McCain are a sick joke.

The media alleges her misuse of office funds when she's not in office, but watching the kiddie's. What no nanny?

What gets me, is the same prolifers who b!tch about abortions are also the same who b!tch about welfare mothers. Can't have it both ways.

How hard can it be to raise 5 kids, one with a very expensive and time consuming handicap when you have a union guy fisherman husband who works for oil rigs, and also on the state tab collecting a governors paycheck.

Give me a break. And I guess she also pays for a physical trainer so she can keep looking like she never had a child either. Wonder if the bra can keep them up? What do ya think guys? Do you know what 5 kids does to a woman's body? She's no barbie doll.

Obama fundraiser in Somerville, Johnny D's.

Did you know that her husband is part Eskimo? You think it will matter to the Mayflower crowd? Well I guess he's not black, right.

And I have it on good authority that al Qaeda watches "Dancing with the Stars."

Back in the day when the King was out at the front kicking ass... nobody f*cked around with the King during peacetime. While it may not be better now... there are benefits to always knowing who is In Charge.

Harry should build up a fat body count, return, cross the Rubic, er... Thames, disband Parliament, kill his brother, and rule as one of those old school Scottish Play kings.

It probably wouldn't make that much of a difference in how England is operated, once you cook up the fish + chips and everything.... and it would be like Way Cooler.

wavemaker, I'm going by what you initially wrote, which was that Romney said "nobody" cared about the C with A, not that "he" didn't. And like I said, Romney was proven wrong and in short order.

Nah Jack, the discussion was about NATIONAL politics and the White House, and how the House would fare with Clinton running. As it turned out, the Dems only gained 8 seats, which in a Pres year was not very impressive.

And the way he said it, he wasn't saying "people" don't care, he was saying HE didn't care. No question. I was pissed.

I think it's safe to say that- based on my whipping his plastuc ass during our Senator's race- I would have been capable of putting together a last-minute winning campaign if Mitten had somehow beat Hanoi John in the primaries.

For those of you here who weren't into politics then, I whipped Romney like an egg-sucking dog.

wavemaker, thanks for the insights about Romney. Clearly he was proven wrong about the Contract with America and in short order. That being said, could Romney have meant that no one in Massachusetts cared about it?
