NPR stands for "Nice Polite Republicans".
11/18/09 @ 11:09 pm
So does GBH stand for "Great Blue Hills" or is it really, "God Bless Harvard".

Leviticus shall be revealed.

Holy cats I guess I hadn't dialed just left of WOMR for a while... thought UMB was still folk-friendly. This makes a lot of careers more marginal, and the Boston Hub has traditionally been the epicenter of Folkiedom...
11/16/09 @ 12:10 pm
Whether suits or neocons are egotists, the same happened two years ago at now-former folk station WUMB (UMass Boston) and more recently at Club Passim, where the long-time executive director and associated since its Club 47 days, as well as several others, were given the rude boot by the "suits".

Folkies are being pushed out, marginalized. I ask WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE?

Whatever the cause, Ned is correct in advising we all become involved in and support local community radio stations.

If anyone is interested in taking action, please attend the WGBH board of directors' meeting on Wednesday, December 2, 4pm (arrive early) at One Guest Street, Boston.

Mr. and Mrs. Roper kept trying to evict him suspecting he wasn't actually gay.
11/15/09 @ 9:13 pm
They tried to smear Scot Ritter by claiming he was into child pornography, and that he took money from Iraq...both of which he denied.

The rest of Mainstream Media had started to cave in the last days of August '02. For the next week into September you see the newly-minted phrase 'Were Kicked Out' popping up everywhere. NPR resisted to some degree, at least correcting NeoCon guests who used those Three Little Words. Until March 6th. Then Scott and Bob's heads became Embedded ... Read Morein the oil-rich sand of Iraq. I want testimony from those two on the precise phrasing of the orders that came down from upstairs... to begin lying to their listeners.
11/15/09 @ 8:35 pm
The Invasion was Thursday March 20 2003. Count back 2 weeks to the Friday I'm discussing, March 6th. That's when these ears heard Scott and Bob commit the war crime all morning. NPR'd been doing pretty well keeping things straight 'til that moment. Then it caved. Repeating the Roveism all morning that the UNSCOMers 'Were Kicked Out' 4 years earlier, an untruth, GAVE NPR's IMPRIMATUR to Bush to Bring It On. The coverage became gung-ho from then on. That is how NPR was complicit.

Ned...I was referring to yours. Mine are directly related to when I can be on the water and not. Such as now when we are in the middle of a gale.

Your hero Ted K mentioned LSD. Ring a bell?

Not to create any consternation on your part but my Mom is 95 and will drive herself to my house on Thanksgiving Day for dinner. We do just fine when surrounded by normal folks. We are not at risk.

I'd need a little more info on the cycles of your mood swings to venture a guess although I have noticed a certain rhythmic pattern from your Comments. Are you seeing a Health Care Professional? My mom blew her brains out in June '08 and I seriously feel that you are likewise at risk.

"On the Senate floor in 1977, Senator Ted Kennedy said: The Deputy Director of the CIA revealed that over thirty universities and institutions were involved in an "extensive testing and experimentation" program which included covert drug tests on unwitting citizens "at all social levels, high and low, native Americans and foreign." Several of these tests involved the administration of LSD to "unwitting subjects in social situations." At least one death, that of Dr. Olson, resulted from these activities. The Agency itself acknowledged that these tests made little scientific sense. The agents doing the monitoring were not qualified scientific observers.[7]"

Might this explain the mood swings?

I knew you would comment on..."Hearing a person smile...".

Just takes a little visualization, intuition and understanding of an expression. Whether written or spoken.

Kind of like watching Fox and knowing if someone is happy, sad or truthful.

Forget FRINGE, stick with Beck.

Hearing a person smile... the Cap'n's tunahunting abilities may be in part due to Synaesthesia... M-K-ULTRA experiments... I too was subjected to them at Nazi Rocket Science Prep as dramatized in the first season of Fox's FRINGE...

Is that his one about the college girls? That sounded prurient if not pedophilic. He crashed and burned after BONFIRE. Had a stress-related heart attack while writing FULL, knowing he was running on empty.

In '89 the NEW YORK PRESS debuted... a free-of-charge right-wing mirror-image of the VILLAGE VOICE~ edited by a gin-blossomed fellow(brother of a major downtown landlord) calling himself The Mugger~ fullscale Pushback against the greying Beatnik art-scene had begun in earnest...

In '93 I was watching C-SPAN... under the aegis of Vartan Gregorian Wolfe had spoken at Brown University... the first draft of VANITIES follow-up A MAN IN FULL was set in Manhattan not Atlanta, and Wolfe had become alarmed that there were "40,000 Leftie artists Running Around south of 14th Street on Rent Control and Food Stamps, Getting Grants to produce art Promoting Socialism!" He borrowed Andrew Jackson's phrase, that this was a "Nest Of Vipers That Must Be Rooted Out".

Very briefly~ Wolfe had been involved with AMERICAN SPECTATOR Magazine which had been concerned since '77 with creating 'Neo-Con Humor'... a frame of reference for nudge-nudge wink-wink among hip konservative kontemporary kommenters... Wolfe was the white-suited jaundiced eye on psychedelia, surfers and maumauing since ELECTRIC KOOL-AID ACID TEST and RADICAL CHIC... but I digress... been meaning to do a Blogpost for years about Wolfe's late career as an artiste making the lives of other artistes more difficult...

Don't worry about this at all, Mav- Dr. Margie has already appraised your case and it has been forwarded to our Cosmic Control Center for further evaluation.

Some friends I went to college with work at the main desk, so your case is getting "rush" priority...

It seems that the Karmic reaction for aiding/abetting the slaughter of thousands of fish
(all those search-and-destroy missions you went for on the boat)
carries a bit of a high price tag, meaning that you'll have to reincarnate
for each fish you killed and have the same thing done to you.

Not exactly a "stroll down Picadilly Lane", as one might say.

We have however, found a wonderful
"loophole" by which you can minimize
and almost nullify the karmic reaction:

You have to become a Hare Krishna...

"Master Of The Universe"! Has a nice ring to it. Thanks.

My nominations for the top five Masters are as follows:

#1...WB (sentimental vote)
#2...Walker
#3...possee
#4...buzz
#5...r-5

PS...cru and bitter. Still love you but I have to be honest when it comes to deciding the future of mankind. And I almost included Dali but didn't want to offend my constituency in Chatham.

RE: "WTF from the Nerdster":

Ned posted:
"Reilly as a Conservative Christian THINKS he's off the hook after one lifetime. As a Hoodoo-Buddhist I see all sorts of gnarly hells and culturally-educational reincarnations in the offing, or shall I say the snuffing. Somebody's coming back as a tuna."

This is sheer poetry.
If only Rod Serling were here to read this.

The whole thing is right-on-target because
Ned's just blown the Cap't out of the water
with a missle that won't even impact until
it's far too late, and the Capt's on
"the other end" of the charterboat business.

The Capt's strategy is self-paralyzing/defeating
as well because his mind will register this
tragically-accurate forecast as
"WTF from Nerdster + the freaks".

God, if only Rod Serling were here.

This is too good...

Hey Jack, could you give us the proper spelling of your last name one more time?

I only remember seeing it a half dozen times or so and certain bloggers have an obsession (as in 2 n's not 1) about making sure their "name is spelled correctly." WTF?

And thank you for your service to our country?
