My son, Michael was hit by a car at on Sunday, September 16, 2007. He is now in ICU at the Montreal General Hospital. He is 24 years old and my only son. I've raised him alone and over the years we've had our ups and downs but in the past 2 years, we've been closer than ever. I always knew that he was a good person with a loving heart and that he was always there for his friends in need. I knew that his friends loved him and valued his friendship but the ourpouring of love from our family, friends and especially his friends in the past week is amazing and truly shows how much of a good person Mike is. He's been through so much in his life and especially in the last 7 days. I see him differently now.He suffers from from a head trauma and we don't know the outcome. I know that he's strong and has willpower more than I could imagine. He will pull out of this and fight to regain his strength and overcome all the problems that will be in his path just like Caleb. Caleb is an inspiration and a fighter just like Michael. Caleb's story will help me and Michael. You're in my prayers

Another question: what is longboard skateboarding and what is skitching?

The accident occured while longboard skateboarding and skitching a ride from a friend's pick-up. This must be the most tragic way I can imagine for skate enthusiasts to learn that this is a dangerous practice; he has sustained serious head injuries and reportedly requires surgery.

About This Blog

wracked_mermaid140_153The Wracked Mermaid washed ashore for a summer job in the proverbial Lower Cape tourist town 20 years ago, and immediately fell in love with the unsullied natural landscapes. wild beaches, and the "local color" of native characters.
Once ashore, fins took root, and she has lived on the Cape since, evolving through the seasonal hospitality trades and services work in the 80s and into the 90s, stay-at-home motherhood for ten years, and returning to school and the work force, in an administrative capacity, in the new millennia.
