Is it a reasonable thing, I ask you, for a grown man to run about and hit a ball? Poker's the only game fit for a grown man. Then, your hand is against every man's, and every man's is against yours. Teamwork? Who ever made a fortune by teamwork? There's only one way to make a fortune, and that's to down the fellow who's up against you.

IF MASS IS AFRAID THAT A CASINO WILL CREATE A SHORTAGE IN LOTTERY SALES HERE IS THE ANSWER. INSTALL MEGA MILLIONS, MEGABUCKS, CASH WINDFALL, PROGRESSIVE SLOTS IN THE CASINOS. THIS WAY THE STATE WILL HAVE THEIR PIECE. IT WILL BE A HUGE CHUNK OF CHANGE.SAY 10% OF THE SLOTS MUST BE "STATE OF MASS" MACHINES. OR SO MANY SQ FEET MUST BE STATE OWNED SLOTS!!
03/29/08 @ 1:55 pm
MAYBE PUTTING SLOTS AT RACE TRACKS WILL ELIMINATE THE CRUELTY TO DOGS WHO ARE KILLED WHEN THERE USEFULNESS IS OVER. DOES DIMASI KNOW THAT SLOTS ARE CALLED ONE ARMED BANDITS FOR A REASON? GIVE THE PEOPLE A CHANCE TO WIN AND GRANT A CLASS 3 GAMING LICENSE WHICH INCLUDES TABLE GAMES WHERE WE HAVE A BETTER CHANCE ON WINNING.SLOTS ARE A DRAIN ON THE ELDERLY WHO TAKE THERE CHECKS TO THE CASINO AND SIT ALL DAY PLAYING PENNY AND NICKEL SLOTS JUST FOR A PLACE TO GO AND SEE OTHER PEOPLE. PENNY SLOTS FYI ARE IN REALITY 97 CENTS A PULL. AT ALMOST A 1.00 A PULL AT 4 HOURS A DAY, YOU ADD IT UP..SLOTS ARE FOR AMUSEMENT.. ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE YOU MAY WIN A JACKPOT. NOT MANY PULL IT OUT. THEY LOOK AT IT AT MORE FREE PLAYS PRAYING FOR THE BIG JACKPOT.NO MONEY OR VERY LITTLE MANAGEMENT WITH SLOTS.

Nothing like targeting a bloc of innocent smokers so that you can say you're ani-crime.

Go DiMasi!

They should tax Pasta, instead.

I spent $9,000 to a Fall River bookie... mother effer gave me 15 back, though. 2007 was good to Monponsett.

You'll get no answers here
but I look in the bank

Mass is already in the gambling biz, just check out what the scratch ticket sales adds up too.. why not have a casino? The citizens of Mass would then have a better chance on winning and have more games to choose from. Otherwise, how does Mass residents absorb all the taxes we have to pay? They will surely go higher and higher. Let those who have it, play it. No one is going to force anyone to visit a casino. But we are forced to pay our taxes!

Most def.

That place makes more $$$ than Alsace/Lorraine, and look at the lengths people have gone to own THAT.

Western Massachusetts should have this big dip in the southern border where it is currently flat. You know I'm already working on it.
03/24/08 @ 7:52 am
Again... we should annex Foxwoods.
03/16/08 @ 8:27 am
They should import Pit Bosses from Las Vegas to testify against the casinos, like CW and those "miners."

We are no longer willing to pay more than pay $0.00 tax dollars for the mashpee clan.

supreme court, legislature, deval (uhhhhh, shudder), marshall (uhhhhhhhh, far worse). ah, nickerson. crime is crime. to whom does one garner strength in an environment such as this?
you could chant, and speak in fake tongues, and tithe, and assault people, in paul campos' cult on main street, hyannis (the business owners, and tourists love it!), this summer, every saturday night, 10-12 pm (u.s.c. 20005a); or in his warehouse on rt. 132 (he needs the bucks).
very peaceful, codpiece.
it's so easy. anything criminal, deal with criminal attys.
cc is freaky; far worse than any third-world country, or even texas; or even bucksnort, arkansas (oh, there is such a place).
cc beats them all.
make friends. with good people.
the weirdos get pissed off. and when they can't hurt you anymore, the weirdos disappear.
03/02/08 @ 5:40 pm
because of marshall's handling of the mashpee gang, and deval's handling of the situation, the local 'native' issue is now going to the supreme court. and, the bia leadership is changing with a new president. oh, did marshall screw up.
03/02/08 @ 2:42 pm
clear
03/02/08 @ 2:32 pm
no 'massive casino complex' in middleboro. bingo slots. big difference. the bia fd is clesr. they're sketchy.
03/01/08 @ 10:47 pm
I'd support otof they guaranteed at least one Indian Poker table.
03/01/08 @ 8:07 am
bingo slots are inevitable and bi-partisan. boston and middleboro, to name two, are sound decisions. the business and legal planning involved is daunting. the secrets and lies of the wamps have to be controlled for tax reasons. no one is more sovereign than any one else.
03/01/08 @ 8:00 am
"Our biggest concern is it would exacerbate our worker shortage," said Sue Northcross, chief executive officer of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

Sue????????????what else do you need to know about the performance of the Cape Cod chamber, which spends $1 million on year to gets its name out there. Sue?
02/26/08 @ 7:18 am
bingo slots in middleboro? no place between here and there to fuel up the mini-van. just hate that it's so corrupt, the fake'em, take'em. if there's a mystery, it's them.
02/23/08 @ 7:19 am
Murch should be happy... I lost an arm AND a leg the last time I went to a casino.

In response to: State opposes Wampanoag Casino in Middleborough
Obviously, the Commonwealth didn't care if the Feds recognized the Wampanoags as Soverign as long as they don't now act the part.I would say to Deval that it's a little late to lock the barn door.He should look up the word "SOVERIGN".All these safeguards he referrs to don't apply!!
02/02/08 @ 12:55 pm
Casino Watch isn't but should be giving 1:2 odds on this casino going up.

In response to: No turtles on casino site; Upton OKs plan for cell phone tower
What is going on with the FBI's and the IRS's investigations into the Marshall clan's corrupt dealings? Why is Marshall not in prison? Where are his five purple hearts? What do the Hendricks drive, and where did all the money for all of their toys come from? How did the shunning meeting go on Sunday? Why did Mashpee make a deal with this gang of criminals and thieves? Why is Middleboro blocking every move that was made by Marshall's fraudulent deals? Any Marshall member who says "Marshall got it done" is as criminal as he is.
01/23/08 @ 10:17 am
leah is right about the turtles hibernating, so that is why no turtles were found at this time of the year. Maybe they should redo the search in the spring. Which should have been known by the officials.
01/23/08 @ 7:28 am
Turtles hibernate in winter, then wander hundreds of yards to breed in the spring/summer...which is why you see them on the roads then.

I wonder how much $$$ it would take a casino group to bribe a DFW official?

Always get a full case of energy bars for a healthy teen girl...Christ, I gotta do all the thinking on this Cape....

Dev should take like, say, $20 million of that... and hire some kickass Texas Hold 'Em guy from TV to come out here and try to triple it with a big run at the Middleboro (or wherever) casino. It'd be like winning another King Phillip's War.
01/17/08 @ 7:57 am
The bingo-at-Dino's guv's budget plan for Massachusetts is not going to pass through the legislature. Maybe that will be his excellency's reality check as a politician, after failing in the corporate arena.

While appreciating that many of the local news sites are doing their best to provide readers some insight into the Marshll tribe's fraudulent attempts for bingo slots, and the frustration reporters are subjected to because of their fraud and secrecy, many of these news sites have local views.

Bingo in Middleboro may or may not be "inevitable," or any casino and/or "racino" in Massachusetts.

Many news organizations, other states, people outside of Massachusetts and CC have other views.

Even if bingo slots are "inevitable" in Massachusetts, it is going to be a very slow process.
12/23/07 @ 1:27 am
"The casino's "managing organization" says it "deeply deplores" that a man committed suicide in the casino's parking lot. He was a compulsive gambler."

"Lotto is abandoning its plan to move the casino to the heart of some of the poorest neighbourhoods. The social problem is real. This is a neighbourhood which has a lot of problems, social problems, drugs, unemployment, and things like that. We agree that there's a risk there to be more a problem than a solution."

"It became known in 1996 that dozens of employees at the local casino had criminal records, and that some had connections to organized crime. Newspaper advertisements for services-many of which are run by gangs-tripled during the casino's first year of operation."
12/21/07 @ 1:32 pm
Is gaming really a sustainable enterprise? Is the demographic of people who gamble the Baby Boomer and older generation, won't they soon be all gone?
12/19/07 @ 4:15 pm
They should take Trump, the Wamps, and anyone else who wants to open a casino in the state... and have them settle the issue with a Billion Dollar Ante Poker Game, winner gets to build. The proceeds could go to the Monponsett Foundation.
