I've come closer to getting shot when I was teaching in Dorchester than my husband has come campaigning in Mogadishu, but I only won by like a yard or so. He has the lead in being shot at overall.

Solon, don't you know, the Commies are passe'. The real threat to our Consitutional democracy today is the religious right, the Jesus freaks, along with financial irresponsibility and petroleum based foreign policy. But don't just take my word for it.
Read Kevin Philips' 2004 book "American Theocracy" where he provides both cogent analysis and thorough documentation to draw parallels between the decline of the Dutch Empire at the end of the era of wood and wind, the decline of the British Empire at the end of the coal era, and to predict decline of the U.S. as the age of petroleum is drawing to a close. In every instance, dependence on a single energy technology for economic strength, combined with foolish financial policies and the rise of religion in politics are the factors that end world hegemony.
Philips you may recall is the conservative political analyst who cut his teeth working for Nixon and wrote "The Emerging Republican Majority" in 1969, predicting the rise of the GOP through focusing on "values" voters, like the Jesus freaks, in the South and mid-West.

voiceofreason22 - I believe this crew did some work for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters agency a few years ago and did a very fine job.

Can't help but think of that corrupt Warden in Shawshank Redemption......running his "work" crew for profit.
Not insinuating anything, but it is the first thing I thought of when reading this.
I am sure these men are doing yeoman's work for people in need.

Nice article. It would be very helpful if you could add the contact information as to how a non-profit or an individual could apply to have work done by this crew.

Late fee causes several more serious complications. No matter how well planned and organized the event is, if there is no enough budget, that would probably end up in mess. Unemployment is such a lousy condition that most people would rather endure infectious disease before enduring unemployment. It makes all kinds of things far worse than they used to be, such as late fees or real estate taxes. You can't even get a payday loan if you're collecting unemployment insurance. You may even have to take an unplanned vacation to find another job. It is never pleasant to contemplate, worse to endure. The numbers of those afflicted are becoming pandemic, and it includes the kind of people you'd never suspect – lawyers, nurses, teachers, police officers, firemen, normally stable and noble careers are susceptible. Let's hope the debt relief from the stimulus can reverse the unemployment trend.

Solon...You can buy Microsoft Expression which is FrontPage with updates. You can just buy the upgrade as long as FrontPage resides on your computer and can be recognized when you install the upgrade.

Ned, thanks for the reference. I looked it up. Bartenderfromhell gives these guys too much credit. They are not "god-like creatures" in some computer war game, but just a bunch of jerks.
Rockhopper, my friend, it's just these bozos I'm talking about, not all the Jesus people. In fact, I think it's an affront to Christianity that they chose to use this message to screw up web sites.

Solon, Please done hold this against the rest of us "Jesus" people, There are freak s then there are "freaky freaks" They can be any religion or speciality groups. Anyone can be creepy, but these kind of people are not the norm whether in the name of religion or anything else. I hope they get this nut case as people like this give the rest of us a bad name, and frankly we don't appreciate it..

bartenderfromhell meant 'pwned'. Now I gotta look up exactly what that means but it certainly possesses onomatopoeia.

Mav,
It was "local" insofar as that a web master and I set it up over six years ago in Norfolk VA at the site he used at that time (catalog.com).
The password situation is that they had a glitch about four years ago that they said compromised all the passwords, so they handed out 16-character passwords (maybe that was a good warning).
Since my task was maintaining and updating it, and not starting it up (which I am not computer-literate enough to do), have you any suggestions? I have kept the domain name, and all the stuff is in my computer in FrontPage, which has been discontinued by Microsoft.
Right now I am waiting for it to disappear when I click on it, saying "web address not found" or something to that effect since I have canceled everything but the domain name.
Also get bartenderfromhell a dictionary (powned?) or get him a drink.

solon...should have stayed local. We find more people being penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to the internet. Same old crap...you get what you pay for.
None of the twenty five sites I host and manage on our dedicated server have been hacked or down in the last three years.
ps...how does an ex-military guy let someone else give him his password?

That is really cool!
Now that's a great example of capitalism that works ....innovative ideas paid for by someone who can afford it, and benefitting the community as a whole.
And he may eventually make a profit on it too. A win win!

Your comment is right on. The Cape Wind project needs to get put in place ASAP, so we can then move on to siting more and more of them, inshore, offshore, on land -wherever they can deliver the most energy based on the most favorable conditions.

Everyone in Barnstable County should get free electricity, then. If there's any power left after that, it can be sold elsewhere and the profit can be split between Cape Wind and NSTAR. If Gordon coughs that up for us, you can count me as being in CW's corner.
