Dennis should scrap the employee of the year award and instead have a 1-900 number where citizens could vote from a list of criminals in town to decide on who gets to be the Dennis Menace.

I agree with capeconservative, Lighthouse is a good school. That said, I am wondering whether Brewster made any headway with the state over SBA payments still owed for the Eddy School. The town was hoping the state would continue to pay the last few installments of the annual $545K SBA payment. Given the state finances, I don't see where the state would be motivated to do so. I don't think Brewster can afford to give up that much money at the same time they may be looking for an override.

It will be nice to see the Lighthouse Charter School have a bigger, more school-like facility.

Thank god we have the government to watch out for us all the time........I don't know what we would do if they weren't here.
Maybe, I would just go swimming during a hurricane and kill myself.........it's so unfortunate that we have idiots in the world dumb enough to make the government feel they have to protect us at every turn.
You said it in a nutshell!
Thank you as well!

The Colonel asked me to remind all of you that the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges are closed as a matter of policy when wind speeds attain 70 MPH. If Bill veers west, try to evacuate like, uhm, earlier or something.

We all need to reflect and pay our respects to Nicholas's family and friends. We often forget just what our poor soldiers have to face each day and utimately in the end. And they do so without great media coverage. They are our forgotten heroes. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

The usual suspects seeking to score the usual points in a tragedy the full scope of which we're only beginning to see. Jutting jaws, pursed lips and misty eyes all around. Who wants to see an end to it and who doesn't?

For those who are military or family, here is a copy of an e mail sent to me by my son(USMC)regarding our fallen Marine.
"I also just lost a very good friend last week. My buddy who I've known since the dep got killed in afghanistan last week. In stead of extending like I did he chose to deploy with 2/8...which what I was going to do before I changed my mind. He was in my platoon from the day we got to the fleet till the day he left for 2/8 3 months ago. We would always talk about the cape and how much we missed the simple easy lives we had. He was from yarmouth. His death hit us all hard...he was one of the best marines I ever knew.
corps is currently engaged in the biggest offensive since world war two in southern afghanistan. My unit is now part of the 24th marine expeditionary force which makes us the GRF (global reaction force) we could deploy at any time with a 24 hour notice. Which seems ever more likely with the casualties in afghan."

I notice the Governor himself is not coming to the funeral. Probably doesn't want to face all the police officers he offended with his recent remarks.
Nothing against the Lieutenant Governor, but I think a fallen hero deserves the Governor's attendance.

How about the town of Yarmouth cuts some unneeded expenses instead of raising taxes? So many businesses are struggling and this isn't going to help. Other than that, I am with possee.

I am stymyied by the constant incremental taxing on small businesses that are barely existing in todays economy.
To even suggest an additional tax is outrageous!
1% here, 5%there, on and on til there is no business to add to your tax base.
Follow suit like the state and then they scratch their heads why revenue is down...public service is a bunch of fiscal idiots..save a few..
