In the opening paragraph...

40 square miles?
40 square acres?

I guess in the historical article it indicates miles too.

Yup you're all right... What if...

We should leave the lights on during the day too. What if it's cloudy?

Or a solar eclipse?

I sit here pondering still...

Obama represents fiscal responsibility?

I'm all about keeping my money mine but wake up!

I support your right to make to speak out about wasting public funds but make a point you could back up!
07/16/08 @ 7:03 pm
GOOD GOD!!

Obama!? Does this person really represent the people who are for Obama?!

With no good choices to vote... we're gonna say Obama is our savior?

I feel like slitting my wrists but wouldn't want to unnecesarily shut down any roads to inconvenience the mail carrier.

After all the mail must go through!

Hey bub,

I get it - that you are informed and won't disagree that there are a variety of tragedies in the system.

I would like to point out that I too have a little experience with the courts.

I lived with a fellow (all details aside) who was a multi - repeat offender. He did a day here or there but no "time served". I got the stories (both sides) and even participated in the benefit of the prosecution and STILL no results.

This individual was poison. He dragged every person who tried to help him out into the mess.

This lack of punishment created a self perpetutaing problem that still exists 10 years later.

He is no longer a child. He does not pay taxes.

His contribution to our society is living on social programs and resulting in expense to you me and other intelligent hardworking folks.

My tone is not angry but tired. I would like to help but I won't settle to "see it from their perspective"

Thanks for reading---

CNN Poll right now--

Should cities offer tax incentives for former prisoners?

%60 No

%40 Yes

hmmm...

I have an employee from a halfway house. He is constantly interupted by "ramdom checks" where he has to come to the phone. This in turn interupts the other 26 people that work with him.

I however keep him at my cost. He hasn't broken into any thing... yet.

I was asked to give it a try - I have. I would not make it a habit but one guy on staff is tolerable.

The difference I can see is

-My guy has spent hard time for 3+ years and might have learned from it.

These children were in front of a judge who said "bad boy don't do that again"!

I am probably harder on my dog!

The raw expense of this vanalism is exactly why we have 2 1/2 overrides. This type of waste is shameful.

It would be reasonable to assess aproximately $900 per tire (if it's not just a valve stem).
03/02/08 @ 8:28 am
The impact was so severe that the drivers left shoe fell off along with his belt. The shoe refused treatment but the belt was medflighted to Boston with buckle threating injuries. The sweatshirt offered to assist in supporting the jeans in this tragedy.

Good thing they did a breathalizer... his defense lawyer would have told him to say "I was dizzy from rolling over and over!"

The lower left pic has him hitching for a ride right in front of the firemen!

Sounds selfish to me...

I want Dr.s to be well reimbursed so that I may feel better...

I'll give kids grades they don't deserve to get more in my check...

Oh, don't forget, reward the children who walk out of class (the very thing that the money is spent for). Teaching them only to follow the rules when it's convienient.

Sounds like the way it's going... maybe the teachers should make up certificates showing the students participated!
02/17/08 @ 10:20 am
I find it VERY disapointing that teachers would USE children to further their point.

I seriously doubt that these kids have been introduced to the budget of the school, the town, the state, or even their own household. What are they basing their opinion on?

They are being taught that what FEELS GOOD must be right.

I am terrified about my children's future!

It wasn't a pistol persay...
Merely a signaling device...

He was about to embark on his morning commute and was under the impression that when passing trucks (on the right) he may need to signal to make his presence known.

Nobody wants to be caught in traffic with a dirty pistola!!
12/14/07 @ 4:01 pm
The troubling thing to me is... why should it be mandatory to restrain your dog?

Shouldn't it be mandatory to think?
Shouldn't it be the resposibility of the dog's owner to make sure the dog is not going to cause harm to others?

I fear that additional regulation is irresponsible. We (Americans) should be teaching personal accountability.

Reward over achievers and punish persons responsible for needless loss.

Did one of Santa's elves get caught in that B&E? I'll be looking for that one on Christmas!

Perhaps he was doing recon for where the tree will be this year...
05/14/07 @ 6:57 pm
MOPO,

Perhaps I owe you an apology for misunderstanding the tone of your posts (all seem to have a bit of tounge in cheek)

umass...

These days the courts (locally) only issue "continued without a finding" rulings around here. the likelyhood of jail time is as probable as snow tomorrow afternoon.

I for one am in no way affiliated with any police.

I do believe that the multiplicity of cruisers would be more intimidating. The thought that would be in my head if I were holding hostages is, "They are all spending my tax money!" How on earth will the criminals ever get their bills paid?
04/19/07 @ 9:38 am
Yar tax,

Wouldn't you agree, to err on the side of caution?

I would agree with you on the expense should lay with the Orleans tax payers. I also agree that the Yarmouth police should not endanger the public while enroute to any call.

However, how could you have enough details to know whether one agency or ten agencies should be called?

I too feel as though I am funding all sorts of unnecessary programs through taxes. But I believe in the public safety program, and the decisions they make while responding to a call.

Someone calls the police and says,
"someone is yelling for help! I think they're going to kill them!"

What do you do in the wake of Virginia Tech?

MOPO,

I hope that you are proud of your contribution. Children everywhere are following your lead. In fact even the guys in Wareham have gone down that road. Do you know them by chance?

Where is the restraint.

Where is common sense?

Is pot so debilitating that yours is up in smoke?
04/04/07 @ 10:31 am
I was actually stopped once by a cop who said, "You move out of my way when you see me!". He basically yelled at me for not moving over trying to intimidate me by pointing his finger in my face.

Now I should point out that traffic was heavy and there was nowhere for him to go, but he had to be in front of me.

I thought it was abuse of the uniform and an embarrassment to the force.
03/24/07 @ 6:49 pm
I think they should let him go again and everyone can take turns tackling him again!!!
03/11/07 @ 11:03 am
What will his friends get out of this? Were they not participating in this?

Surely someone might want to insist to put seatbelts on motorcycles...or maybe just outlaw them altogether.

I suggest starting an organization, Wheeliers Against Cars Using Streets (WACUS)...

Crusader,

Where will we send the electric bill? People could open their eyes.
Drive close to the speed limit.
Perhaps, they could show courtesy and allow a left turn on occasion.
Cars have lights and reflectors showing in every direction. If people would pay attention rather than playing with their radio or yapping on the phone.

Yesterday I saw a lady reading the paper on her steering wheel while driving.

Oh are the lights so she can see her paper?
02/20/07 @ 8:33 pm
Good god are you for real!?

Lets give him flowers and say please stop....

but don't yell you might hurt his feelings...

I hope for his sake they don't use red pen in his file

Falling through the same ice that another local newspaper had on the cover last Friday...

There was no indication then that the ice wasn't safe.

Glad the boy kept his head and was able to help.
